I took my new trainers for a run.

Hi everyone,

I purchased a new pair of trainers yesterday morning, Saucony Triumph iso 3.

I had a gait analysis done first to make sure I was getting the correct type of shoe.

After a bit of shopping with my better half, I returned home and got into running gear.

I then went out into the cold dank breezy afternoon and took the shoes for a trot.

I'm now on the end of week 8 of the HM training. I ran for 8.5 miles and the trainers were great, which was a relief as they cost a bit. I also tried some, Sis co energy gel, at the 6 mile point and was pleasantly surprised by the almost immediate effect on my energy levels. I was well wrapped up and the clothing is a little constrictive but never the less I certainly enjoyed the run and the satisfying feeling at the end of it.

Around three hours after the run my legs were aching, stiff and tired but after a couple of pints of London Porter and a good nights sleep they are back to normal.

Just four weeks to go, then I will be running my first HM.

I hope that you are all having a great weekend and happy running.

All the best.

Well done on your long run! I am also training for a HM, in March. Interested to read about the energy gel too. Up until now I have always fuelled on 'power' flapjack! My sister gave me a gel to try out and it is still sitting in my cupboard from last year! Might try one next weekend, just to see how it compares. Good luck with the rest of your training - which HM are you doing? I am doing the Bath Half on March 12th.🙂

Hi Sandraj39,

Thanks for your reply,

I'm doing "The Great North West Half Marathon" in Blackpool on 19th Feb.

I have never tried the gel before, I was impressed.

Good luck with your training and obviously on the 12th March.

All the best.
