How's this for a fast, flat 10K course..?

Meant to share this last week. I have signed up for a 10K race at the end of November, at Dunsfold Park aerodrome (home to BBC's Top Gear!) A chance to run around the perimeter and runway of the old aerodrome - runs do not come much flatter than this so a great opportunity for a PB maybe? Should be fun either way :)

Ooh. Looks great. Only thing I would find tough is seeing so many folks off in the distance since it's so open. Looks like loads of fun though, I bet that pavement is smooth.

Interesting! During WWII I'm assuming? I'll have to look it up. I'd find that really interesting to run - I'm a military history nut.

Dunsfold Aerodrome (ICAO code EGTD) is an unlicensed[clarification needed] airfield in Surrey, England, near the village of Cranleigh. It extends across land in the villages of Dunsfold and Alfold.

It was built by the Canadian Army and civilian contractors as a Class A bomber airfield for Army Co-operation Command. It was commanded by the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942–1944 and was known as Royal Canadian Air Force Station Dunsfold. Under RAF control it was RAF Dunsfold.

You like military history like me..

You can look up my great uncle Oscar Horace Linkson who is well documented, he was a professional football player killed on the Somme in France in 1916 and is marked on The Thiepval memorial, I'm well proud of him and of course all the other Brave soldiers who lost their lives throughout the wars..

Ah. I will look him up. Most of my focus of study has been on Canada and World War One but I love reading about other countries as well as Canada in the other wars. My dad and I visited Scotland years ago as I was able to track down a fellow that had served with my grandfather in a mixed RAF/RCAF squadron in the Burma theater in the Second World War. It was a life-changing trip, I learned so much about my grandfather and about war and it's costs. That was my first and only trip to the UK so far. On my bucket list is a battlefield tour of continental Europe.

Sandra, I've been there for The wings & wheels event a while back, that should be great for a 10k and get some speed up! Good luck..😊

Thanks Dave. Yes, I've been there for 'Wings and Wheels' too! It's literally about a 10 minute drive from my house!
