Woodland wander

I managed a 5k run in the cool shade of the woodland track today and followed it with another 5k run-walk, felt good. Getting back to where I want to be but that 5k is still hard, don't know why!

That looks lovely Joolie but it was hot today so I think running is especially hard at the minute. But you did 10K!!! Yeah! How fab is that?!

It was mostly shady under the trees, just one or two places where I was in the sunshine. I drank plenty of water before I went and had a drink in the car to have when I finished too, so I was fine! Lovely day to run

Run/walk is good for when you are a bit tired - or to extend what you have been doing past what you would/could have done. I have a running track within 10 minutes easy jog of our house - downhill most of the way. I use that 10 minutes to warm up as I get to the track where I do tempo runs, intervals, etc - but the 10 minutes back home is too much for me (tired after the workout and uphill) and I usually walk home - so I decided that I would just try run/walking it, and lo and behold, I did it quite easily and enjoyably - much better than walking the whole way :)

Today when I switched to run walk for 5k, my run speed was faster because I knew a break was on its way, needed the walk breaks to get my breath back! Rather than running 5k, I put in an extra 5 so happy with that. Still having to force myself to run the 5k, maybe I should slow a little

Today I ran 6K - alongside a friend who walked the whole way. We chatted the whole way, gradually solving all the World's problems as we went along :) It took 50 minutes - but for me it was a satisfying workout - averaged around the middle of my HR Zone 2 - just what my training programme wanted me to do. Normally, by myself, I would have run a bit faster at the very top of my Zone 2. My walking friend kept me under "control" nicely :)

Well done, have you had recent blood tests carried out? When my wife and myself had our tests earlier this year it was found our vit D levels were low and mine was right at the bottom line, so was put on a supplement, must say I do feel better..
