24K's today!!

It was "only" run/walk - in fact, very short run/walk intervals at a slow average pace of 8:30 mins per K - but I was shattered at the end of it. I think that I would actually enjoy this sort of distance - very pleasant coastal route - if it wasn't so "never ending". It is of course never ending because it is training for a HM - but IF I could/would run/walk for say 5K and have a sit down for 5 minutes : - before starting out all over again, I'm sure it wouldn't be so hard!! :) But we return to the fundamental question once again - why the H*** am I doing this????

So why the hell are you doing it Bazza? It's because you enjoy it! being retired, your time is mainly your own, there's great scenery & weather on the run & it does you good, so well done!

I'm booked in to do the City of London mile on Sunday, and must say I feel anxious about it, a big deal for me, and also having that thought, why am I doing it?! having never done anything like it in my life, except maybe at school many years ago, and it will be busy! but then there's the positives, such as it'll only take me a slow 12-13 mins to do the mile sprint, if I'm lucky and get a spurt on I could maybe better that, it's all on the flat running past some historic London landmarks and will get some bling at the end all at no cost to me..😊

Why are you doing this? Because you can? Because it feels good afterwards? Because pushing yourself to run further than last time gets addictive? I know I've asked myself the same question plenty of times - particularly when I'm feeling sore and worn-out - and those are the best answers I've come up with.

Well done for managing 24kms - that's a lot further than I could manage!

Only 24! I'd say that's a very impressive distance.

You do it because the longer you stay active the better shape you are in for the future 😀

All the above but really it's because you'll have great anecdotes when your old and it allows you to feel OK to have a beer or whatever vice you have!

Oh that looks awful Bazza, really horrible - sea views, sea breezes - sure you'd rather be plodding through French mud and limestone rocks....

No - the only reason I am doing it is because I was silly enough to sign up for a HM in July!!!!

Well what else would you be doing?

I wondered what I was doing in my second ever race; running round a little village on a cold Sunday morning. Then I thought to hell with it, it's FUN 😊 There were loads of other elderly ladies bombing round the course so I thought who am I to argue. I could have course been doing the ironing or cleaning the oven

Go for it Baz. Never stop 😊

Doing the ironing or cleaning the oven? No, would definitely prefer 24k. I might walk it though😈

The distance is beyond me at the moment bazza but come on, you're doing it because you can. How many people do you know who can run a HM?
