Ok - I've entered a 10k for the first time but now.....

I've joined a running club !!

I am now a member of Burgess Hill Runners and had my first outing with them yesterday and had a great time.

I was put in the beginners group, me and six ladies, and loved it.

A great warm up, then a run with various exercises including, shuttle runs, relays and a few gentle sprints.

I'm not sure how that benefits me but I so enjoyed it - they were very welcoming and the coach pushed us without killing us !

What was great was the fact that we all want to improve our running and everyone encourages each other.

My next session is Weds next week but am so pleased I made this step.

What else have I got to look forward to ??

Richard

And a "well done", from here too. What can you expect in the future? It depends on your club, but mine has got me caught up in all sorts of stupidities I never thought I'd be caught in. There is no way that you would have found me a year ago, sliding round 6 miles of continuous mud amidst 500 other fruitcases whilst wearing club colours (it's called a cross country race...).

One of our club's ex-C25Kers (our beginners group) has just got her place confirmed in the Comrades Marathon (56 miles from Durban to Pietermaritzberg - probably one of the tougher ultramarathons). She was in a similar position to you 5 years ago. You never know where this foolishness might lead... ;)

Well done. I'm sure it will improve your fitness and your running. Your club will probably be involved in race series so you could immerse yourself in that as you wish. They will enter various races and may look to enter teams. That would be fun 😊 running with others does help as the time goes by much quicker.
