Entered my first 10k event

Having graduated (C25K) late last year I am trying to move from 5k to 10k this year. So far I've reached a 7k distance and last night went looking for my first event to try to help motivate me to get to my 10k target. For my first 10k I've gone for a local event - Longleat in Wiltshire. Its a bit soon (3rd February) but if all goes well over the next few weeks I reckon I'll get there!! I'll keep you posted.

If you are doing 7K now, a 10K event at the start of next month will be no problem. You will find that participating with other runners (when compared to running alone) is worth an extra 3K on your distance on the day. Just keep getting out regularly between now and the event. It might be worth easing your run distance up to 8K or so, but don't worry if you haven't actually reached 10K before the day. You are close enough already.

When the day comes, just go out and have fun. You'll enjoy it.

Fabulous! I know Longleat - don’t know the course though, but it’s beautiful there so it should be a lovely place for your first race. 😀

You’ll be fine. Don’t forget to post a pic of your bling! 🏅 My first race isn’t until May. Can’t wait! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Apparently the course at Longleat includes two big/long hills. Nevertheless I am looking forward to meeting the other runners and getting the event buzz!

I'm sure you'll be fine - do you have a plan to get to 10k? Combination of shorter and gradually increasing longer runs did it for me. All the best 😀

Thanks. Progress is slow but so far secure. Increased to 7.5k earlier today and included a hill as well. I’ll repeat that two or three times before adding any more.

That’s very exciting. Well done for entering the 10k. I can’t even face a park run 😀. Just think of lions chasing you all the way round. You are doing brilliantly having graduated late last year too. Way to go you.
