well the new year is here and the gyms are full!!

But running is cheap and cheerful and a damn sight more beneficial!!

Fresh air and brilliant scenery!!

Keep on running!!

I was thinking about this tonight on my way home. I pass a " Pure Gym " and they have lots of treadmills facing the windows . I was watching the people using the treadmills and it just looked so soul less.

Nowt beats getting out there in the fresh air ! :-) xxx

I have never got treadmills. A machine to run on and you have to pay for. Bizarre 😊

I run past two gyms and nothing makes me feel envious

Totally agree! I often post photos of wonderful countryside on my Facebook page as "my gym this morning, totally free"! I just love the freedom of running outside, except for this morning when my grass run turned into a boggy cross country, water sloshing around in my trail shoes and muddy socks and splattered legs (front and back)!

True, not fun at the time, but once u r muddy, might as well continue. My trail shoes are clean and dry, ready for the next time! Always hankering after the next run but rest day tomorrow 😖, feeling I may have to get my bike out then! I'm only allowed in the roads with that - 2 recent punctures caused by thorns in the woods! Who can tell me off though, I'm 52 now!!

Went out today for a safe road bike ride and did 15 km, stretched my legs well and my knees feel good now because they seem to get stiff when I run/shuffle!!

brill jules brill!

I have a book which outlines 3 sessions a week running to do a marathon! the book advocates cross training such as cycling on alternate days

Thanks for that, I think my own pattern of 3 runs a week will work well for me. I went for a lovely bike ride today and feel the great benefit in my knees, sounds like a very good plan
