Thought I had been lucky but then ...

Over the past few weeks friends, family and colleagues have been struck down with various stomach bugs, chest infections etc. I was feeling smug because I had escaped but then ....... sneezing started last week, then a bit of a sore throat on Saturday. I went for a slow run on Saturday (in the wind), gave swimming a miss on Sunday and had a rest yesterday. Today I decided to go out - went OK for the first couple of kms but then I started sweating buckets and my legs went to jelly. I walked a bit, ran a bit, walked quite a lot, ran a bit. Didn't really feel much better - sweat was dripping off the end of my nose by this time!! I just about managed 7km but I felt every single step of it. Still hoping to avoid the worst of this bug thing that is doing the rounds but that run this morning has wiped me out.

Sounds like I was, if it's any consolation mine is on the way out. First day since Sunday I haven't woken up with a sore throat. I have stopped exercising to get over it but mainly because I have an event Sunday. I couldn't of walked out the door Sunday let alone done 7km so hopefully you have the lower version and you will be back bounding about soon. Take care X.

I read somewhere you should never exercise with a fever its dangerous I think !! Look after yourself there are lots of running days ahead of you ! ;)

Here, here. There's brave and then there's foolhardy. Nobody is immune from ill-health and I reckon you need to listen to what your body's saying. especially when medical science suggests this is the best course of action. Did anyone see Who Dares Wins last night and see that guy trying to carry on even though he was at risk from fatal blood poisoning? Aaargh!

Ah yes, I have that lingering sore throat and bit of a cold too (but definitely not even a hint of a temperature). Am going for a run soon as it is the best opportunity I will have all week, but have promised my body I will listen and not overdo it. Decongestant tablet has been consumed to ensure easy breathing.

Hope you feel better soon!

You're clearly not 100% Sharon. Best to wait until you are. Lots of good food, tlc and sleep!
