Just found this with lots of familiar posters. Hello! Maybe this will help me crack getting beyond my current 8k max.

Hi, welcome. I'm relatively new here too, and am trying to week on week do a little bit more to get to 10K. Do you have an event booked yet ?

No, I don't think I want to do events - at least not yet.

What is it that you "think" is limiting you to 8K??

Your mind? :)

Your leg muscles?

Your lungs?

Your overall energy during a run (losing it) ??

Energy / stamina. I am quite a slow runner (speeding up gradually, but as an older runner, the step changes are not going to be dramatic), so 8k is getting on for an hour's running for me.

Yes - I am in the same boat as you. So - do we really need to run longer than an hour???? What is our purpose in doing so?? If you pull a rubber band hard enough and for long enough - it WILL snap!! :)

For me it's a method of improving my pace over shorter distances.

Drop your pace and I think you will go further than 8K it is my opinion that pace and distance are directly related.

I quite agree - 8k is my stretch distance when I go slow!
