Hello Alison,

I'm so sorry you have had so much going on.

What a time you've had.

Having hospital procedures then just left to get in with it, seems to be just part of being treated by the NHS now.

I am the same age as you, have IBS and diverticulitis too.

I understand some of your pain. Some days, not being able to go out, for fear of leaving the bathroom behind for example. I am also immunosuppressed so need antibiotics every time I have a flareup.

I am due to have a colonoscopy to have two polyps removed soon. They are not aggressive, so after reading your post, I am seriously considering, leaving them well alone.

I do hope you find a solution on here. I'm sure you have tried your gp for advice on relief of symptoms. There is a diverticulitis support group on Facebook too that may offer support.

My best wishes,

Mgt

This page is for those who have IBD, not anything else. (Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease).

We are patients with IBD and cannot advise on medical matters.

Cancer or pre cancerous polyps are not in our remit and you must see your gastroenterologist/specialist for these problems.

Good Luck and all the best.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a term for two conditions (Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis) that are characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Prolonged inflammation results in damage to the GI tract.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common condition that affects the digestive system.

It causes symptoms like stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation. These tend to come and go over time, and can last for days, weeks or months at a time.

You might find the "irritable bowel syndrome (ibs)" page more useful.

Omg You are suffering the same as me. I do have a Bidet which helps a lot. Not in my camper though. I had Folfox 5 Chemo. It had Palatin in the mix which has given me Periferal Neuropathy. Hands and feet have lost feeling. Horrible. I’m in NZ and older than you but grateful to still be here. Cancer is terrible and unforgiving.
