Ask your GP or a pharmacist. Zinc is used in all sorts of ways in the body. If you've had some general feelings of malaise, a supplement may help.
I had deficiency, and my nutritional list (also a medical doctor) I take 15 mg per day. That’s what I’ve been doing for the past few years, and my zinc levels are now normal. I buy it from Nature,’s Best,
I take zinc piconilinate 15 mg regularly always combined with vit C for better absorbsion and immune system, but yes, zinc is also good for our bones. Look into Nutri Advance 15mg or Solgar 22 mg. Currently I am regularly on it after a bad winter with sinus and throat infections after an infected molar extraction, under Denosumab. I have been worried about ONJ since October.
Generally take with food, but not with other minerals, calcium, magnesium iron etc. (space out at least 2 hr from any of the above)
I have researched extensively about mineral absorbsion, and decided not t ever take 2 different mineral supplements at the same time. Magnesium in the morning with vit d3 , k2, all fat soluble; zinc and ester C vit (solgar); calcium before bed. Hope it helps
I take Vit D, M-k7 in the am. I take magnesium glycinate in the evening. It is supposed to with sleep (not really for me) so I assumed you should take it in the evening. Am I wrong?
Thank you. I'm surprised my Dr advised buying a zinc supplement without telling me which or how much to take. He suggested it because I have hair loss along with the osteoporosis of course. For some reason my lovely silver hair is going dark I can only guess it's medication. I am going to get back to him as it's more complicated than I first thought. I've taken Vit D3 since having skin cancer a few years ago.
Thank you everyone for your advice. This is a brilliant forum.
Thank you, you have a lot of knowledge. Apart from medication I only take Vit D3 after food.
I've been taking 15 mg zinc for years but recently learned it can deplete copper so I've added that to my supplement regimen but not at the same time, as mentioned above. I use Pure Encapsulations for both.
Yes it can apparently; not to become a rattling pill box, I add 5 dried prunes to my greek yogurt in the morning, to add Boron and copper, plus 2 to 3 Brazilian nuts that also add copper and Selenium to the range.
Magnesium can be taken before sleep except it aids D3 absorbsion, x me is morning and is also fat soluble.
Magnesium glycinate supplements could be split btw am with d3 and night I suppose, still fat soluble though to be absorbed, so with a tablespoon of good quality of olive oil, to count up for the bones too, that would be my thinking.
I would recommend vitamin K2 with vitamin D3. The D3 helps with calcium absorption and the K2 helps transport it to the bones.
