Calcium supplement before zoledronic acid infusion.
Hi Radars, we have a fact sheet to explain calcium and vitamin D which I hope you find useful. strwebprdmedia.blob.core.wi... and strwebprdmedia.blob.core.wi...
Thanks, but can't read all that
don't think I will have enough calcium for infusion, my 30mgs of lansoprazole will stop me from absorbing it.
I take two tablets of Citracal maximum calcium citrate supplement. It can be taking with or without food. Two tablets gives you 500 IU of vitamin d and 630 mg of calcium. I like it because you can take it with or without food and is not constipating
I do not supplement any calcium or vitamin D and I’m on the infusions, I have my bloods checked monthly and my vitamin d and calcium levels are always well within the healthy range. I do drink a lot of almond milk which is fortified with both but that’s all otherwise I have a very restricted diet and don’t take any vitamin supplements as they upset my stomach.
thanks, but I thought you had some bad side effects.
yes but not due to having Low calcium or vitamin d I just reacted to the infusion. My bloods are done regularly they say the infusion depletes your vitamin d and calcium levels which is why some get other side effects but my levels are always good so the side effects are nothing to do with the vitamin levels because if I supplemented my levels would be too high which also isn’t good.
Personally I don’t know why people supplement so many vitamins if they haven’t had their bloods checked first my doctors said I would only need to supplement if the levels dropped and they haven’t so again side effects are not due to low calcium or low vitamin d levels
I have hiatus hernia and oesophageal reflux. Take omeprozole daily. Also take plain AdCal tablets (Vitamin D and calcium), but take it at a different time of day to omeprozole. They check your blood calcium levels before doing the zolendronic infusion.
