K2MK7

I’ve been taking K2MK7 from Nutrizing - 600 mcg. I saw a post which recommended Vitabright, but their version is 100 mcg. All very confusing. I haven’t a clue how much one should take. Are there any experts out there, please?

Like everything, opinion is divided on this! There's no official recommended daily dose in the UK, though in Australia they recommend 90-180mcg K2-MK7 daily, which I think is the amount most of us take. I've come across one school of thought that says you should take a higher dose of K2 if you're taking high dose Vitamin D, so maybe someone else can explain that theory and exactly how the quantity of K2 should be worked out in relation to D.

Sounds like I’m having too much! Will go for a lower dose next time. Thanks for replying

This website for sales of a vitamin K supplement includes many references to research on vitamin K and health. The section on bone health is worth a read. You may find some useful information there.

A lot of really interesting information - just looked at the price of Koncentrated K - it is very expensive. Looks like it’s all imported from the US.

1 capsule is equivalent to in mg

K1 - 5mg

k2(Mk4)-25mg

K2(Mk7)-0.5mg

Wonder if you could make that combination for yourself?

I only take K2(Mk7) - does anyone take K1 and K2 Mk4?

Don't forget the 2 mg of astaxanthin. :)

I suppose it's possible, but it would add up. Taking 25 mg of K2 Mk-4 each day would be about £35/month by itself.

Not me. Just the k2. It gets exceedingly complicated, me thinks! Thanks for your research.

Snowybear, as a indirect answer to your question Dr. Weston Price discovered something he called Activator X. This link offers a further elaboration. You should also investigate boron and annatto tocotrienol, especially for your back, for their benefits for osteoporosis. Dr Jorge Flechas MD has a youtube video about boron and mentions how it also stopped him from loosing height. Magnesium is needed for bone building and also activates vitamin D and thiamine.

Your welcome. This link offers an overview of tocotrienol from annatto. If you have time search on "nothing boring about boron".

Snowybear The below are the supplements I take currently(my condition is Osteopenia) and have found it very useful. My Z score reduced from -2.4 to -1.4 in a year.

My daily dosages are the below.

1) Ca 1000 mg ( have 2 times in a day, 500 mg each as our body absorbs maximum of 400 mg in one shot)

2) Mg 500 mg ( have 2 times in a day, 250 mg each You can take even more as RDA is 520 mg for a 40+ male)

3) K2-MK7 220 mcg ( Per vitamink2.com.au, Vitamin K2 has been shown to effectively decrease the bone resorption process. The process was significant after 3 years of treatment with nutritional dosage (180 mcg) of vitamin K2 – MK-7)

4) Boron ( 1 cup (almost 24g of pitted prunes daily)

5) Vitamin D3 5000 IU (have 2 times in a day, 2500 IU each)

Its preferable to have Organic/Plant based supplements of all the above.

May I ask where you buy your vit K2MK7? I take 2000 vit D, and am told I have good levels of calcium in diet already (if you include dairy). Prunes sound interesting!

I'm based out of India and I buy it online. Unfortunately, the only Organic/plant based supplement I don't get here is Vitamin K2-MK7.

Please be careful in not consuming too much dairy products, particularly pasteurized ones as it may worsen your condition (Osteopenia or Osteoporosis). Better to stick to having raw milk once in a day (200 ml).

This sounds a very comprehensive regime - will look at it more closely

Have a look at the fb group vitamin d and it’s cofactors. They recommend 100 mcg vitamin k2 for every 1000 iu of d3. I took high doses of d3 for my ms and developed spurs on my heels that I believe are calcification. The k2 reversed this over time. I also developed osteoporosis during that time. I won’t know if that has helped this condition until my next dexa scan.

I also take the same K2 MK7 600 mcg as you but only take it on alternate days. I've tried other brands, at much lower dose, but as have experienced no side effects will continue with Nutrizing.I prefer that brand as it contains less additives than most.
