Headaches with Clopidogrel and Felodipine anyone ?

Hi

I have posted many times about issues with BP meds. Currently I am taking 7.5mg of Felodipine, Clopidogrel 75mg and just recently moved from Rosovastin to Atorvastatin 1mg. My doctor suggested a change as I am suffering badly with headaches during the night.Has anyone else had these type of issues please ? I have numbness and tingling down my left side neck and arm pain too. I recently saw am Osteopath and that has helped my neck a bit. Earlier in the year (March) I had a head and neck MRI all fine. I saw a neurologist a couple of weeks ago and he said I had tension headaches gave me a headache diary to complete for a month then I might get medication. Spoke to my GP last week said I have health anxiety which I totally accept and gave me Propanolol. They help a bit with the headaches but it's not the answer. I am seriously at my wits end. I suspect side effects of meds but maybe not ? Sorry for such a long post but hopefully someone can help.

I would ask to be referred to a blood pressure clinic where they should have clinical pharmacologists who can hopefully help. I also think that some blood pressure drugs (possibly ARBs like Losartan), have a side effect of reducing anxiety, which might help a bit.

Thanks for your help and yes I agree about referral my GP mentioned a while back so I am going to remind them. All the best x

I’m sorry I can’t help, Bobby. I am on Felodopine and AtorvaStatin but do not have any headaches. It must be grim for you….

It really is but I took the Clopidogrel earlier yesterday and it seemed the pain wasn't so bad last night. Will try again today and see how it goes. Thanks so much for responding I really appreciate x all the best x

Are you drinking enough water? Perhaps dehydrated…

Thanks JPBee no really don't think it's that but always room for improvement as they say. GP has changed statins and I am now taking Propanolol daily for anxiety and that obviously helps with headaches too but don't really want to be on them forever. All the best. Grateful to you for taking time to reply.

Hi Bobby, I’m not familiar with 2 of your meds for BP but I have taken Propranolol for a long time with no noticeable problems related to it. I take if for blood pressure & for help to control Essential Tremor of my hands. I took Lisinopril (ACE Inhibitor) for many years but a few years ago started having Angioedema episodes & can no longer take it or Losartan (ARB). I take Propranolol ER, Hydralazine & Hydrochlorothiazide to control blood pressure.

I hope you get some answers regarding your issues. Good luck!

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. Hydralazine was mentioned as a treatment for my BP how do you find it please ?

I was prescribed Hydralazine when I started having higher blood pressure readings with Propranolol and Hydrochlorothiazide alone. I initially took it twice a day. I've since had an increase in dose & take it 3 times a day. I can no longer take ACE Inhibitors like Lisinopril or ARBs like Losartan since developing Angioedema reactions to both. The Hydralazine addition has leveled out my blood pressure and I don't have any problems with it.

So glad to hear that's working for you. I had heard scary stories about it so that's reassuring to know hope it continues for you. All the best x
