Further tales of my disasters with BP meds. Currently we are trying the above combination to try and lower BP but minimise side effects. Readings are not great but maybe acceptable however still suffering headaches and now have diarrhea. I have occasional IBS but usually this causes constipation not diarrhea. I have reported this to surgery pharmacy but advised to continue for a bit longer. Also feel very tired. Recently had bloods tested (iron etc) and all fine. 25mg Losartan and 20mg propranolol with a view to increasing to 40mg if no problems. Pharmacist says diarrhea not usual but meds leaflet says it is. Grateful for any comments. Thanks !

the charity Blood Pressure UK website might possibly have some tips for you. I assume you know the diet and Lifestyle ways to lower your bp.
From my experience on the Hypertension part of health unlocked, some people find it hard to adjust to bp medication especially at first. So I personally think it’s worth persevering for a bit before they change the combination of meds.
My husband is on a similar regime to you with similar IBS, the IBS continues a little.
Thanks Happyrosie always grateful for your comments. I'm sorry to hear your husband is also having problems. I am trying very hard to deal with all this but after two years I am worn out with it.The tiredness and headaches are so debilitating. My gp has now referred me for a head scan but I truly feel it's the Losartan. I feel very bad constantly ringing the surgery too. I have emailed Blood Pressure UK today and will keep posting. Thanks again for your comments. Best wishes
Thanks for responding but I have come off Losartan now and after only 5 days feel so much better. I now have Felodipine just 2.5mg readings are great but will see how it goes. Seeing GP end of month feeling hopeful for the first time in ages. Best wishes to you!
can’t give any better advice but I hope You get some relief from it all soon. Maybe agree an acceptable B/P with your GP & pharmacist for a while so you can have a bit of a reprieve. 🍀
Hi BobbyCollins, most blood pressure drugs have side effects its about trying them for some months and if still not good then speak to your surgery nurse about it. I took BP tablets for years then suddenly my health altered and on investigation it was found to be a side effect of long term use of a certain drug, so we tried no drug and weight loss, now I am back on Losartan but some days I feel Yuk. So if I was you I would try other sources of info to see if there is somethin better for you. We are all different and some other illnesses can cause raised BP and that illness may need treatment before the BP settles. Hope you find a way to cope with the BP ,
Thanks katieoxo60 that's good advice. I am having a monitor fitted on Wednesday so we'll take it from there but my it's exhausting! All the best to you.
Hello Bobby Collins, I had a monitor fitted just this eek for 24 hrs, gives a good indication of your average readings, hope that helps you and that you get some resolution, best of luck.
Thanks so much but monitoring now postponed due to change of meds to Felodipine. Have to wait 4 weeks now. It's a long haul thanks again for your help much appreciated
