Hi,Is anyone else suffering from high bp and objective pulsate tinnitus (someone else can hear it and goes to the sound of your heart). I'm currently taking 10mg Ramipril in the morand 10mg Lercanidipine in the evening, Lercanidipine is now giving me bad palpitations and headaches. The tinnitus keeps me awake most nights.

I have been taking Lercanidipine since October last year (as a replacement for Amlodipine which gave me severe headaches). I did suffer from palpitations and hot flushes with the Lercanidipine and so was prescribed Ramipril to help keep the bp down and these side effects went away. Sadly the Ramipril then gave me horrendous tinnitus and a cough. I stopped the Ramipril after 2 weeks but the tinnitus continued with all the alternative medications I was given. About 3 weeks ago I made the decision to stop the second medication and just take the Lercanidipine and the tinnitus has improved. My tinnitus is constant not pulsate and no one has ever checked if it was objective. I have been waiting since February for a ENT appointment but still waiting! I think Ramipril might be the culprit in your case too so I would suggest you ask your gp for an alternative.

Thank you for the advice, but I have been getting the tinnitus since before I started taking any BP tablets. The way I knew my tinnitus was objective was my partner could here it one night, very strange. Hope your appointment comes through soon and you get sorted.

Yes, the fact that your partner can hear the tinnitus is very strange. I do hope you manage to find a bp medication that doesn't give you the palpitations and headaches. Managing high bp is tricky and seems sometimes to be a case of trial and error. Good luck.

My tinnitus seems to improve when my BP is well controlled. The issue I'm having is finding BP meds that I don't have side effects with. Hope you get sorted soon.
