Hi, I suffer from high BP and am now on my fourth tablet. Amlodipine and felodipine made me swell everywhere, Lercanidipine gave me an all over body rash, now I'm trying 2.5mg Indapamide. Started taking it 6 days ago and from day 3 I've been suffering with a hard bloated stomach, anyone else suffered from this? I also take 10mg Ramipril which I have been fine with for the last 2 years.

Hi Pinkutd. Have you checked the Patient Information Leaflet inside the box of Indapamide, as that will give you a list of side effects of the drug?
Hi Springcross, yes it is listed as a side effect, I just wondered if it's something that will go after a few more days or if I need to change medication again, which I'm really hoping not to. Was just seeing if anyone else has had the same issue and how long it lasted.
the problem with this forum, Pinkutd, is that there are so few hypertensives reading these compared to the millions that there are worldwide. When you’re asking about side effects from such a small “population” you’re going to get a skewed result or none at all. We all react differently, as individuals, to medication.
I’d say your best resource would be the specialist charity Blood Pressure UK or your pharmacist
I feel a bit like a broken record but this is a support forum for people with hypertension. The purpose of this group is to discuss issues with each other. That includes side effects of various medications. It is really helpful to hear about other people’s experiences. It really doesn’t matter how big or small the group is, as it misses the point. I find people’s posts about their experiences much more valuable than speaking to a pharmacist or a charity.
hi pinkutd, my own blood pressure went down on low carb and went even lower on the 3day sardine challenge. So much so that I had to stop my medication. It is slowly rising now but I may be eating more carbs than I should be. Trying different foods in my diet and check my pressure regularly. Try low carb and intermittent fasting to see if it makes any difference to you.
What is the objective of the 3 day sardine challenge, ne er heard of that
it’s to balance your ketones and blood sugar. I use it because I cannot fast for 72 hours without food as I have no fat to lose anymore having lost over 4st. Sardines are also apparently good for osteoporosis and inflammation in the body as they have lots of nutrients in. If you Google it you will find lots of information on the 3 day sardine fast.
we’re going to have to disagree on that point I think, Pinkutd. To base one’s medication and dosage around a few peoples anecdotes is, in my view, dangerous. Because that’s what you are implying that you are doing.
I am forced to wonder what posts you are reading. I don’t think anybody on this forum has implied that they are basing their treatment decisions on anecdotal evidence. My impression is quite the opposite. But I must stress again that this is a peer support forum where people want to share ideas and experiences. They are free to do what they want with that information just as you are. We are all grown ups after all.
