Losartan or Candesartan?

Wondering if anyone has experience of both of these drugs? I’ve been on Losartan for three years and am fairly certain it has significantly contributed to substantial weight gain. The doctor (telephone appointment, never met them, has no prior knowledge of me) has suggested I try Candesartan, but having done a bit of research on forums, it seems there are worse side effects on that, diarrhoea, muscle pain, runny nose to name a few! I’ve had none of that on Losartan.

Just not sure whether to stick with the devil I know or give Candesartan a try.

I see, Chickpea, that you’ve not had any replies and it’s quite likely that, of the 4,000 members of this community, none of them are on your combination of medications or haven’t had the same symptoms.

Just because some people have had those symptoms you report it doesn’t mean that you will. And whether your weight gain was caused by the drug it’s hard to say.

Been on candesartan for about 20 years with no side effects
