I have been diagnosed with hbp 3years ago and my gp prescribe losartan 50mg,once a day, my bp was in the range on 150/95 before meds, however most days my bp are 110/70 when i wake up, if i take the meds it can drop further. Past few months my doctor advised me to cut the dose to 25mg morning, however my bp does tend to rise in the evening which brings on my anxiety, im also going through perimenopause which raises my anxiety. So for the past few months my doctor put me on25mg losartan morning and 50mg losartan in the evening so my bp doesn't spike. Some days my bp is normal in the evening and if i take meds it can get quite low. Honestly its depressing trying to keep my bp to a certain level as its either high or low. Anyone having this issue please share how you are coping.
I don't get any side effects from losartan and i do my blood tests every year to check if all is going well. However my cholesterol is 6.5and my doctor has prescribed statins though ive not taken it yet as im doing more exercise and cutting down on high calorie foods. Im 67kg.

With those figures I wouldn't be worrying too much. I can't get near them on a good day and have been like this for over 20 years. BP average 160 over 103 and cholesterol level usually 9.6 or there about, with no meds. They concern me but don't worry me. The lowest my cholesterol has ever been is higher than yours and that was when taking meds. I no longer take meds for it as they compromise other health issues I have or make me ill.
Since I have been on a CKD diet my cholesterol has dropped to 7.8 without doing anything else.
My cholesterol specialist told me not to worry when I was at 9.8 as there was no sign of damage and I haven't worried ever since. People live comfortably at both ends of the cholesterol scale.
I have only relented on the BP meds 2 months ago as I have been experiencing severe migraine pain in one spot of the head. Makes me a candidate for a stroke, I'm told. Although scans have been clear. BP average now 150 over 98 on 8 mg of Candesartan once daily. Supposedly good for CKD but proving not to be for me! While BP did not cause the CKD it isn't helping now. Up until starting the meds it had been stable, now dropping.
I record my BP daily as I do for anything I can check at home. I like to know where I'm at in case there is a change.
Stops me worrying about what might or might not be. Leaves me to get on with life.
Thanks for the reply, my doctor has created alot of anxiety in me because he never give me clear explanation of my conditions. He rarely answers my concerns. Just give me tablets for the anxiety and thats it. All i need is answers to calm down my anxiety about my bp and cholesterol.
Most of the time I manage to suppress worrying about my health although I still have concerns for it. It is important to remember that being at risk is not an indicator you will suffer the consequences of these problems, only best guess, might.
Anxiety does effect BP, no amount of meds can lower my BP when I'm stressed to the limit. Just how you relieve stress is easy to find out, but applying it has always been the problem for me.
I have no idea how my cholesterol has dropped but believe sticking to fresh natural foods and not touching manufactured and processed foods as much as possible may be the answer as this is all that has changed. No or very little sugar, salt or substitutes and very little red meat with only water to drink. I'm actually less physical these days as well! I generally feel better for it.
Hi Paradise2018, I found this post while searching for answers to a similar issue I'm currently going through. I am in perimenopause and beside other issues, like palpitations, hot flashes, anxiety, I recently noticed my BP spiking from time to time. I own a BP monitor at home, and like you, I know that most of the time, my BP is around 100-110. Well, a few times when I was anxious, I took my BP and it was 150/100. Another time it went up to 180. Then during a stress test, up to 200.. needless to say I became very scared and concerned I might have a BP issue. I am taking Bisoprolol which is supposed to control by the heart rate and the blood pressure. At the last consult, the cardiologist increased my Bisoprolol.. but just like you, my BP is most of the time around 100/70 and sometimes goes down to 90/60. So it's hard to control it through medication.
When I have these spikes, I usually feel like I'm going through an anxiety attack, restless and with a feel of rush in my body (although not really brought by anything happening around me..). I am thinking it's from the hormonal changes, and unfortunately I cannot hormones due to other problems.
Anyways, long story short, I felt relieved when I saw your post, and hopefully we both will find a cure, or this is just a temporary problem for us... please keep up updated or PM me if it's easier for you.
