amlodopine and ?

gp recently doubled my amlodopine dose which has not done too much to lower or stabilise my BP (high normal/ grade 1). seeing the GP in a couple of days and I'm inclined to to go back to 5mg of amlodopine but obv need something else alongside so curious to know what else others are taking with it which has worked for them.

it’s fairly normal to start with one then add a different one which acts in a different way. Have a look at Blood Pressure UK, the charity, website for lots more information

I started on Amlodipine 5mg and needed more med. My doctor said not to increase the Amlodipine because side effects could be amplified, so he put me on Olmersatin 10mg.

This has my BP under control.

Only side effect is mild itching.

I was having same issue with 10mg of Amlodipine. Was moved onto 5mg of Amlodipine and 5 mg of Ramipril a few years ago and that did the trick. BP has been stable (normal and optimal) for a while now. Also had the benefit of not suffering the bad side effect of swollen ankles I was getting whilst on 10mg of Amlodipine.

I take a high dose of Valsartan and 10 of amlodipine. One thing I’d like to mention is that here in the US all generic amlodipine is not the same. I’ve found the one that works for me though. I hope you can get everything worked out 🙂

yes I discovered that with amlodopine genetics early on, have stuck to sanofi since then.

I had my amlodipine dosage put back to 5 mg because the 10 mg dose caused bad swelling. Then 8 mg candesartan was added, and BP seems to be better controlled now. The only side effect I have is an occasional tickly throat and slight shortness of breath. However, these side effects are manageable and not nearly as bad as the leg and ankle swelling.

2.5 Ramipril added to my 5mg Amlodipine. Worked for me and very stable BP now for 3 years. No side effects I’m aware of
