VitD and amlodopine: Hello! Is it ok to... - High Blood Pressu...
VitD and amlodopine
Hi Tugela. I have taken Vit D for a few years now. I was given Amlodipine 5 mg last July for HBP and still took the Vit D (500 iu - 2 twice per day). As we are all different, I think you could maybe just ring a pharmacist or your GP to ask their advice.
Hi I have been on amlodopine 10mg for a year now and have taken vit D for the past 4months with no problems I also take several other vitamins with no issues but as others have said check with doc to be on the safe side🙂
You're lucky with Amlodipine - I had to stop taking them (5 mg) but they were doing the job. Shame.
I get terrible swollen ankles if i walk about a lot ... sitting doing nothing my ankles are fine ...
I don’t get on with the amlodopine seem to have lots of side effects I asked my doctor to take me off them and swap for something else am in the process of that now but is tricky as amlodopine works well on my blood pressure which is crucial as I had a stroke last year because of very high blood pressure
I'm sorry to hear that and hope all will be well. What are you on now?
Hi thank you 😊 Iam on Perindopril amlodopine atenolol and indapamide
I'd be interested to know how you get on with them. I have recently been put on Ramipril and already, after seven days, I don't think it's going to work. I was on them once before a few years ago and they caused havoc for me.
I’ve been on 10mg of Amlodopine since last November, +2.5mg Indapamide. Also taking Vit D, C+Zinc, Omegas and Curcumin and I feel fine.
Have had terrible rash on feet and legs, red knees initially , but rash now gone. Still get red legs and swollen ankles if I walk/ stand a lot.
As others have stated, best check with your pharmacist/ Dr. for peace of mind.
How do you take the Curcumin? (Do you mix it with black pepper?)
I take a multivitamin (after getting the OK from my GP) and 5mg of amlodipine plus ramipril.and propanolol.
Hi lettingoffsteam. How do you get on with the Ramipril?
Well I started ramipril and amlodipine at the same time and had lots of side effects but can't really tell.which is which. They included: a burning feeling in my upper body, a rash on my leg, anxiety, palpitations, swollen ankles and, to start with, a bit of a cough.I still get slight burning but the rest has cleared up.My bp is good now though.👍I did think I would be able to change but the consultant didn't even see that as an option.Luckily the side effects subsided. What happened for you?
I had been on the Amlodipine since last July. Normally (I have tried it two or three times in the past but had to stop after about 4 - 6 weeks) I would get quite swollen and very red knees which would throb and become quite tight at the back, headaches and funny slightly misty eyesight. This time however, I wasn't getting any side effects at all until about four or five weeks ago when I fell down the last couple of stairs at home (forgot I wasn't stood on the floor) and twisted my ankle really badly. It took off from there really. Ankle really swelled getting worse, then the foot then the lower leg. After a while nasty red rash occured on lower leg (X-ray showed nothing on foot and ankle). I started looking up on various forums and found other people had this sort of thing with Amlodipine. Saw a nurse/practitioner who said she felt sure it was the Amlodipine triggered by the fall as I had had no problems with it before. Stopped it for a week taking BP readings 4 times a day for the nurse. She then told me not to take any more and prescribed Ramipril which I have been taking for a week now (and have already had a couple of side effects) which is an arch enemy of mine. I am willing to give it another go but I don't think it will make any difference as it didn't before. Strange thing is I still have some swelling (I have been on Prednisalone since last July tapering - now on 1 mg per day for one month also Methotrexate for RA). Swelling comes and goes - it's really aggravating.
Have they suggested any other drugs since both ramipril and amlodipine seem problematic for you?
