Is any one else on 2.5mg of Amlodopine? I read on the forum that a gp had said it wasn't an effective dose. I was meant to take 5mg but as I am small and slight I thought it best to try lower dose first and hopefully avoid any side effects. Thank you for any help

Amlodopine dose
I started on 2.5 mg several years ago as my then GP thought it wise as I was reacting to all other BP meds and Amlodipine was the only one left to try.
Thanks springcross, did that dose help to lower your BP?
Only a little and I ended up taking the 5 mg although not for long, but please don't be put off of trying the 5 mg eventually as you may well get on with it - we are all different. I did end up back on 5 mg again and have been for the last two years and it seems to suit me much more now than it used to, probably the brand has a lot to do with it. I really hope it works for you. Good luck. 🤞 x
I take 5mg Amlodipine as it’s one of the few that gets my BP to a reasonable figure. I was tried on the 10mg but had to stop because of bad palpitations. No side effects with the 5mg, I’m your age and small and slight too.
Another 71 year oldMy consultant put me on a 5mg dose straightaway and myst admit there were side effects which were not great.
My GP encouraged me to persevere and the side effects did disappear completely but it took a few weeks
Best of luck
I take the 2.5mg ,but I have started having terrible tinnitus , has anyone else had this side effect .
