I was diagnosed with hypertension and LVH in November 2018. Since the moment I was admitted to hospital I have had chest pain. It has not gone away. I am on lots of meds but it has not gone. I have told my GP and it's been no help. When I go up stairs I am out of breath and I feel awful. I have also had a stupid cough and phelm since having the change in meds. I want a normal life again. Where do I turn for help?

Have you had an ECG? Ask your GP to refer you to put your mind at ease
Hello TigerLizzy. Sorry to hear that you are not getting any joy from your health professionals. Very frustrating isn't it. I also have hypertension which was well under control until this last year. Are you on statins by any chance? Apart from hypertensive medications, they can also cause some issues with some people.
Hi TigerLizzy, I was diagnosed with very high bp and LVH in March.I was put on ramipril and amlodipine and since then I have had an intermittent burning in my chest, back and arms.I've been checked out twice at A&E, nothing found.Going to see a cardiologist in December about changing drugs as my GP was worried about giving me worse trouble. She has decided, after suggesting it was stress or reflux, that this is a side effect. What meds are you on?
Bendroflumethazide 2.5mg; bisoprolol 10mg; dixazosin 2mg; omeprazole 20mg; ramipril 10mg. Now have blood test ESR of 66. Dr adding in colecalciferol 800 unit, It's taken ages to get BP down to decent level. I am having following symptoms tired all the time, lethargic, depressed, severe leg pain on exercise, headaches which can turn into full blown migraines, chest pains, cough, phlegm, sometimes wildly high BP (possibly due to stress).
Wow, quite a few different drugs and nasty symptoms. Are you under a cardiologist? My symptoms have subsided quite a bit although I still get some burning in the chest but it is mild.I am awaiting the results of a ct angiogram and a five day ecg event monitor for my palpitations.Luckily my bp is under control as a recent 24 hour bp measurement showed an average of 119/73.Your cough could be a side effect of ramipril...a common side effect. As for depression...totally get that...I had some CBT (therapy) to help with my anxiety.I also go to a meditation class which helps. The spikes in bp definitely needs looking at though but anxiety can be a real factor.Hope you get some answers soon.
Ask to see a specialist if you haven't been already. Your stupid cough as you call it, could be due to your medication. I had a dry persistent cough with one of my meds.
Which med
Everyone is different. You need to find the right meds that work for you and push your Dr’s hard. I started my therapy re high BP on the NHS and very quickly moved to my private medical policy where my situation was resolved in couple weeks . The NHS process was completely awful and exaggerated my condition with stress with huge waiting lists and overworked Dr’s who simply didn’t want to know about my symptoms. And just tried to get rid of me. I realise not everyone has private but the
NHS is a broken System in my opinion. Keep pushing to see specialists
I have a BUPA policy via my job and their service is absolutely fantastic. Go online and check their prices for policy cover. For me it was like dealing with true professionals. I’m afraid to say my NHS experience was anything but.
