OAB & Kagel8

Hi everyone, i had a complete hysterectomy in 1998 which left me with a highly overactive bladder.Over the years i have been given various meds and am now on Mirabegon (Betmiga) which has helped the most, reducing my nightly dash to the loo to about 2-3 times. Daytimes are ok unless i have a UTI which occurs alot.

So after reading a few posts here I bought a Kagel8 device.

I only use it every other night. It also made me aware that only 1 side of my pelvic floor had sensation. At first it was great, only needed the loo once a night, my bladder held more urine & completely emptied.

However i was ill recently so didn't use it for 3 weeks.

I started using it again and since then I am back to square 1, i have to go to the loo about 6 times a night and am feeling 24/7 like i need to pee. Its not a UTI.

Why has this happened ?

Do i stop using it or carry on in the hopes it will improve and not make it worse.

Has anyone else experienced this with a Kagel8 ?

Hi there as a massive supporter of the kegal 8s ..why don't you try a different programme say programme 14 or 15 which is for prolapse....what programme are u using is it 11...I've had a pelvic floor repair last year prior to that I used the kegal 8 for 10 yrs and used 14/15...I still use it for maintenance or if I've had a bad bout of constipation ..that's another thing that affects your pelvic floor ..hope this helps ..jeanette x

Hi

No i started off with the 2 test programmes and worked my way up to programme 8.

Then after i was ill i restarted from.no. 1.

I prefer no.6 out of the 8 i hv tried so far but will definitely try 14/15. To my knowledge i dont have a prolapsed bladder but after my hysterectomy i was left with a "vault", so if there was a prolapse i wouldn't be able to tell.

If u had a hysto and they removed your uterus I think quite often your bladder or bowel could prolapse that's what I was told by the consultant who did my pelvic repair..as your uterus supports them.. if you use programme 11 that is suppose to keep evething supported..if you give the girls a call at kegal 8 they will give you there advise on what program is most effective for your problem....hope this helps ..jeanette x

I have the same after a total hysterectomy. I was finally diagnosed with a hypertonic pelvic floor which had worsened after a severe UTI.I now attend hospital once a month for specialist physiotherapy. The kegel 8 programs are mainly for the opposite problem. You would be best to try and get a proper diagnosis as you may be doing the wrong exercises and making the pelvic floor even tighter.

I had the same problem, needing to pee continually but, having difficulty passing urine .

It took me a year of constant badgering before I saw the correct specialist. It will now take a year or more of hospital visits, tests and trying out different treatments to hopefully manage the condition.

If the Kegel is making things worse I would stop until you get a further diagnosis.

No I haven't . I suffer with bladder pain sometimes stress makes it worse and distraction makes a bit better. Best wishes.
