TOO OFTEN
Hi Whit, I have had similar problems for a few years now. I tried all the usual medication after all the usual tests. Nothing worked.
In desperation (I thought) the GP put me on Desmomelts, Desmopressin, medication which stops children bed wetting.
It has by no mean solved the problem but reduced it substantially. I am now down to two or three 'P Stops' per night, I do get sustained periods of sleep, but no more than two or three hours at a time.
I now live with the best of a bad job, could be worse, I could be back in nappies, God forbid.
If you have not seen your GP already, I would do so as a matter of urgency so they can rule out anything sinister, then take it from there.
All the very best, and I do hope it works out for you. in the end. Ron
Sorry to hear this Whit. We need our sleep.
This may sound crazy but try to increase your water intake during the day. It's what I did after visiting the loo 3, 4 or 5 times nightly. These days I usually wake up once during the night but occasionally I don't have to go at all.
Give it a try and good luck.
I pee more than i drink, so i can give your suggestion a try and see what happens.
Interesting. It is counterintuitive to do this but something that I have been pondering. The logic is to reduce intake and therefore need to go less. Could you please tell me your fluid intake before and after your change to reduce nighttime visits?
I've absolutely no idea but agree that it does sound counterintuitive but the more you drink the more you flush the toxins from your bladder. This then leaves the bladder less irritated. That's my simplistic interpretation and this was backed up by a nurse.
Thanks. Possibly my problem is different but anything is worth a try and your solution is so simple.
I first noticed the effect of taking more water on board when I used to go to the gym. I'd always drink 500 ml of water (at the gym) on those days to make up for what I was losing in perspiration. Those nights I wasn't visiting the loo as often. Eventually the penny dropped and when I discussed it with a health professional she explained about the toxins that everyone has in their bladder and how drinking more water flushes the toxins out and leaves the bladder less irritated.
Good luck Phil. I hope it works for you. It's certainly a cheap and easy solution and is well worth a try.
Thanks. Very pleased that you found an easy solution.
Hi Whit, Further to my earlier post on the subject, I am interested in your post in particular. as I too, am up 5/6 times a night, normal length of Peeing time, but not much force to it.
I go about 4/5 times in the day. I have tried many Pee Pill, to no effect. At the moment I have decided to live with it. I get about 6/8 hours sleep, but on an hourly basis. Better than nothing I suppose.
I may see a Urologist again in the Nee Year, and try 'Vericare',but at the moment I am loathe to, as I have heard conflicting reports on it.
If I ever find a solution to our problem, I will of course let you know, in the meantime please keep experimenting, even if we do not find the 'Cure' we may be able to alleviate our 'Nocturnal Suffering' just a tad.
All the best Ron.
