Hi All, I wonder if any one, has experience of the drug 'Vesicare'. It has been prescribed for me by my Urologist. It is the 4th pill I have been given over three years of excessive night time urination. I am going 5-6 times a night, and never get more than 1 or 2 hours continuous sleep. My record is 10 times.
I have been on W&W with CLL for four years and am on 4 monthly monitoring at the moment. I am desperate for some decent sleep, and am always fatigued, which is confusing at times, as I don't know if it's connected with my CLL or not.
Having taken several medications over the years, I am beginning to think, that many of the symptoms I get are not always related to my CLL, but to these medications themselves.
Having read of the many horrifying side effects of Vesicare, especially for over 65's, I am loathe to go on it. My GP thinks I should, and that it does present good results.
Has anyone any personal experience with Vesicare?. Any information would be gratefully received. Stay safe and well all. Regards Ron.

I am at the moment on Oxybutynin but it did not agree with me. My doctor has changed it to Solifinacin which I believe is another name for vesicare. All the meds for bladder problems seem to have a list of possible side effects. Some people on here are OK with it. So I hope someone answers who is. I think it is a case of trying it and see how you go.
Is it possible to find the root cause of the nighttime urination? There are a number of things that can cause this and I believe many or most of the underlying causes can be treated.
Hi Vindiatrix- I have also been on vesicare in the past, I found it did nothing in the end apart from a dry mouth. I ended up having botox injections to my bladder. The first lot was given by a specialist urologist under anesthetic and lasted 2 years, the second lot later on was given by a hospital specialist not under anesthetic and I have had issues with it. I have also been given oxybutynin in the past too. No joy there.
Thanks fir the info Rosiez1, it was very helpful. I am still swithering as to whether I will take Vesicare. My Night Pees down from 6/7 to 3/4 . I am still only getting 1/2 hours sleep at a time. However I think I will put up with it for a while longer.. It may be something I just have to live with. Thanks again, I hope you find your own solution eventually. Regards Ron
Thanks for that Rosiez1, very informative. I would never go for the Full Anaesthetic choice.
At my age I try to keep away from those kind of ops. Botox, I've never heard of, interesting that the first one worked, and the second didn't.
From what I am reading and hearing, I think I will just have to put up with the 5/6 Pees per night, it apparently is not uncommon at my age. Sound, long sleep, is a distant dream to many of us of 'Wise Personage', and of a certain age.
Hope your own 'Urinary Hic Up, sorts itself out eventually. All the very best. Ron.
