Medication for overactive bladder during night
I use Weak Bladder Patches from EASY LIFE and find helps, each lasts for 24 hours. No a miracle cure but as I say" helps"
I managed to get my GP to prescribe desmopressin which reduced my night time loo visits from three to, usually, one. He was reluctant at first.
It is a sublingual "tablet" and quite large so can be cut into 5-8 smaller pieces. You need to have your serum sodium levels monitored. For me a whole tablet was too much and my sodium levels went too low. You also need to restrict evening fluids so I don't take it if I have a lot of liquid in the evening for any reason.
I'm still trying to find the cause of my problem. I think it is either bowel pressure (when there is bowel content) or that, when lying down, my kidneys are excreting the extra fluid I store in my legs as I think there is some dependant oedema present .
I had my hip replacement and managed with the medication doctor had prescribed for me to reduce bathroom visits and I must say couldn’t have managed without it but unfortunately my potassium levels dropped very low before I left hospital - have to have blood tested on Tuesday and if my levels are low again I’m afraid it will mean coming off the medication. Many thanks for your reply.
