Am hoping for any advice, I am 7 weeks post operation, some extensive work was done including removing an endo nodule from the bladder and it has not recovered at all. I am now ISC’ing for 5 weeks and don’t appear to be progressing at all (I did at least pass some urine at last TWOC 5 weeks ago but nothing at all now). Docs say it’s nerve endings that need time to recover and can’t give me a timescale as everyone is different.
Would love to hear any similar problems, good and bad. Next stop is physio for me but I feel like I might need a bigger solution.
Thanks,

I was catheterised at a hospital appointment as I wasn’t voiding my bladder completely. This has evidently caused my bladder to overstretch, totally different from your problem, but has damaged the nerves in the bladder that help me pee. I am now six weeks into self catheterising, spoke to my gynae urology surgeon yesterday and she says it is doubtful if my bladder will recover, but there is always hope!
Thank you for your reply, Can I ask if you are able to pass anything at all? I am now 9 weeks ISCing and am starting to feel the need to wee, I have passed some very tiny amounts which is great, very slow but heading the right way at least. Please keep me updated with your progress.
Occasionally first thing in morning when bladder full I pee but it is rare. Like u I occasionally get the feeling of wanting to pee but nothing happens and I don’t push it/strain.
Hopefully it is a matter of time for both of us, I have been told it may take up to a year for me. Take the positive of being able to pass something, even if it’s rare. The nerves re grow at such a tiny amount each day so I have to take a long term view, after nothing for 8 weeks it’s definitely improved this week (although a very tiny step forward it’s still a step).
Hey 😊 just wondering how your bladder is doing now. I had an extensive lap 9 weeks ago that seems to have irritated my bladder, urethra and the nerves going through my groin as I’m getting a lot of pain and discomfort. I’m hoping in time they will heal :/ xxx
Hi, there has been some progress, although it’s very, very slow and some days go backwards ☹️ but compared to 3 weeks ago I do pass some urine naturally and I do have the sensation of needing to go or subconsciously heading to the toilet. However it’s not consistent from one day to the next. I don’t really have an action plan from the docs so have devised my own around drinking lots in the morning and less at night. I only self catheter once a day now (before bed) or if I feel sick. Physio doesn’t start for a few weeks but I have given myself a year to get back to how it was before. I am the only person the doc knows that this has happened to so they don’t really know what to do which is a bit rubbish for me. I also have bad lower back pain now too. I am positive and hopeful for your healing too, there isn’t much advice out there which is poor. Jx
