Post op catheter after bladder op

Hi everyone I need some advise silly as I'm normally the one giving it ha ha ..I had a bladder prolapse operation wed at spire I was so nervous so I went private..all went OK until I got home I was passing urine normally after they took the catheter out in hospital but once home I started with sciatica excruciating pain I was also back n forth to the loo like a yo yo but hardly passing any water this continued until Sunday I just thought this can't be right the pain I was in I expected some pain but not this..so I phoned spire who asked me to go bk in so they could give me a bladder xray so I did ..they said not surprised u have 2 ltrs of urine so catheter again emptied it what a releif then the sciatica was not as bad ..so they a it was...but had to try to go myself but I was only passing a little not enough so have to have catheter in for 5 days anyone else experienced this I'm just so worried this is going to be permanent...thanks all xx

Hi, it's normal to end up with a catheter after surgery. Your bladder will have been bruised from the surgery and it is quite common that your bladder and bowels go on strike for a few days to recover. Try not to worry, it will get better, it just needs a bit of time.

Hi I'm sure my pelvic lift was successful as he stitched not used mesh which I didn't want so it's cured my heavy feeling of that bulge in your vagina my set bk was my catheter hooefuly I'm getting over that bit so I would def recommend surgery if you can't cope with hrt and pelvic floor exercise I went private but I'm sure the nhs are just as good if you don't mind waiting xx

Had a bit of a set back as had to come home with a catheter in place and had to get antibiotics as have a infection but I think it would have been OK I went private to spire 5600..but only time will tell x

Still struggling to empty my bladder like I did before even though I feel the need it gets better throughout the day im still not passing urine like I use to do before my pelvic floor operation I could go any time of the day or night but now not half as much ...has anyone else had this after a pelvic floor lift ...xx
