Bisoprolol is a ‘beta blocker’ drug, mostly used for high blood pressure or heart problems, like angina, heart failure or an irregular heartbeat. It helps by slowing down the heart rate and making it work less hard. It is often used when other blood pressure tablets haven’t been successful. Doctors will need a full medical history before prescribing, particularly any history of asthma, diabetes and kidney disease. These conditions can sometimes be a contra-indication for usage.
