That’s a pretty high dose of bisoprolol. Your fatigue and lightheartedness may be caused by this. I’ve been on 4 different beta blockers at various rates as we looked to balance the sides effects with good coverage of my arrhythmias. They may need to do something similar for you. Do you know what your heart rate average is?

High dose of bisoprolol! I could only cope with 1.25.Might be worth enquiring with your prescriber x

Are you in persistent after. It's the only way to be prescribed that high dose of bisoprolol. When I was in persistent af I had a high dose like this and I was given digoxin. I did not know whether I was coming or going. My GP reduced it quickly to 12.5. Fortunately I no longer have to do this. Ablation.....Phil

I was in persistent AF and was on 10mg Bisoprolol and 1.25 Digoxin. Was told 10 mg was the highest dose one should take. Was very tired and sleepy. Had cardio version in November and reduced to 5 mg Bisoprolol and no digoxin. Feel ok now. Ask questions!

I was discharged from hospital in August with 5mg of Bisoprolol and 0.0625mg of Digoxin so your dosage seems quite a load. I remember the unpleasant symptoms on that smaller concoction similar to yours. Got changed to 320mg Sotalol and ditched the Digoxin and Bisoprolol.

That seems a very high dose of Bisoprolol if it really is 15 mg daily - 1.25 mg proved too much for me to take daily after just three days! And Bisoprolol only reduces heart rate and does nothing about the irregularity which is part of our problem. You really need to see an EP as they are the cardiologists who specialise in the intermittent electrical problem our hearts have.

I am on 10 mgs Bisoprolol daily.it was increased gradually over the years when my HR went high. I certainly don’t have the energy I would like but at 73, have to realise not all the feelings we have are medicine related - sometimes, it’s just gently getting older ! I was told 10 mgs wasn’t the maximum dose that I thought it was, and some people take 20 mgs for high blood pressure. Just chat to your medical team about your concerns. And remember, people who feel awful on a low dose of Bisoprolol, are generally very alarmed at the thought of 10 or 15 mgs. You will have been given it for a reason though. As I say, just check and tell the docs how you feel.

I am on 10mg Bisoprolol and 125 microgr digoxin. I was quickly increased to 10 mg as HR would not go down (diagnosed end of Nov ‘24), and when the rate was up at 130 over a weekend on 10mg they added digoxin which seems to work, but in persistent Afib so will have cardioversion 19 Feb which will hopefully bring me into NSR and I can reduce the meds. Feel lightheaded at times, but hard to say if meds or the Afib or low blood pressure (I have normal to lowish, though cardiologist said meds might have the opposite effect and take it up a bit in my case, which sounded strange. When in afib you need BP taken manually as the machines wont work).

Hi

Bisoprolol was increased like you. Still @ 156 H/Rate Day.

Introduced to Diltiazem CD 180mg AM. Worked immediately as Biso.. 10mg left me at 156pm Day. However 156 down to 51 big drop so Bisoprolol for BP was cut to 2.5mg PM and Diltiazem cut to 120mg CD AM. 8amish.

3 years on CCB. Biso.. dropped off December as low BP. and had weird close eyes and 1/2 world was moving and had to stop table tennis after picking up ping pong ball.

BBs did not control my rapid heart rate. CCB did.

Can't have cardioversion, ablation or anti-arrhymic meds, Heart abnormal. Severely dilated left atrium.

Why do you have to take such a high dose of Bisoprolol? 15mgs is a high dose. I can’t even take 1.25mg regularly because of awful side effects and lowering my blood pressure too much. If l took just one dose of 15mg l think l would end up at the hospital as well, Definitely be looking at this drug as to why you are feeling so ill, but don’t stop until you have spoken to your Cardiologist as you have to taper off. Good luck.

I have read of people saying they were on maximum dose of bisoprolol 10 mg.

20mg is the highest usual dose, I have read., with 5mg likely being the most common. Doctors will prescribe the dose required to help the condition, so hopefully, it is helping.

When I had atrial flutter, I was on 10mg, yet still had an uncomfortably racing heart. Digoxin was what finally came to my rescue, followed by an ablation (only for AF eventually to come my way).
