It’s been awhile since I’ve posted on here. Four years ago I had a second ablation which was very successful, I get the odd “flutter” for a few seconds now and again and that’s it. On signing off from hospital the consultant kept me on 10mg Bisoprolol daily. I asked my local doctor to get in touch with the cardiology department and they’ve said I can wean myself off by going down to 5mg for a week then 5mg every other day for a week then stop altogether. Has anyone done anything similar? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I weaned off Bisoprolol but did it much more slowly, I bought a pill cutter from Amazon reducing doses down to 1.25 on alternate days. It took a while but I didn't have side effects.
Ablation 4 yrs ago are still on bisoprolol? Whenever I've had a successful ablation (3) or cardioversion (3) I have had to stop bisoprolol (5gm) immediately as it knocks my HR down to about 40 and I feel faint. So it usually depends on how you feel. I think recommendations are to do as your docs say and wean gradually.
With all due respect to your cardiologist, I suspect they have never weaned themselves off a high dose of Bisoprolol, whereas some of the replies you’ve had are from folk who have, including me! I was on a much lower dose than you, 2.5mg, when my cardiologist wanted me to switch to Diltiazem. He said it would be fine to stop one drug and start the other as I was on a low dose…. it was hell for about three weeks! My advice would be to taper gradually and allow the heart to adjust slowly to the lack of beta blockade.
