Restarting Bisoprolol

Good Morning everyone,

I need your help on understanding your experience after starting or restarting Bisoprolol.

Just a quick history. I am 38 year old male. Had a NSTEMI at 33 and ended up having Quintuple Bypass. Was put on 3.75mg Bisoprolol. Started feeling dizzy on it after almost a year and it was reduced to 2.5mg in Sept'20. I was tolerating 2.5mg well with very intermittent dizziness, but I had 3 consecutive episodes of Syncope in Nov'24. A&E suggested that it was because of hypotension and bradycardia caused by Bisoprolol and took me off cold turkey. I have experienced significant anxiety since. My BP has been well maintained by Heart Rate can be in between 110-140 bpm. Due to the increased HR, my GP has started me back on 1.25mg Bisoprolol. Now I am scared of having another Syncope. I took Bisoprolol yesterday afternoon, but experienced dizzy episodes all evening. I am also feeling weak today, along with feeling of being "zoned out".

Has anyone else experienced any of this? How long did it take for the dizziness to settle after starting Bisoprolol? Did you experience any other symptoms?

since Ive been on this forum, about a year, I’ve noticed that a good ten percent of posts concern Bisoprolol.

If you put that search term into the box top left of this page you’ll see what others have said.

Hi ClaydonARMy cardiac rehab team suggested a change to Nebivolol which they said is good but side effects are gentler.

I switched from Bisoprolol with no problems coming off it.
