hi everyone I had a episode on xmas day night when I was in bed where my heart raced The wife made me ring the heart nurses on Boxing Day they returned my call the following day and said my heart raced at 160 bpm. They made an appointment for me to have my defibrillator adjusted on Monday and have increased my bisoprolol to 15mg per day. I was wondering if anyone else on here takes that amount
bisoprolol : hi everyone I had a... - British Heart Fou...
bisoprolol
Blimey , that would flat line me 🤣.. I’m on 1.25mg and trying to come off . I started on 3.75mg after my nstemi heart attack and that soaked me out . You obviously have a different condition and I would trust your consultants, if you feel ok in it then that’s fab 👍🏻.
Hi. I’m also on 1.25 Bisoprolol and trying to come off due to debilitating side effects.
Can I ask how you are coming off them? Are you trying to wean yourself off by gradually reducing, and if so how are you doing it?
Would like some advice if you can help please.
This is very encouraging. I have been on Propranolol 10mg a day for 2years for Sinus Tachycardia. Recently cut down my dose to 5mg after the Gp said the Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo I am experiencing is a side effect of the propranolol.
Please have you experienced this as a side effect of Bisoprolol. I was advised to switch to Bisoprolol but scared of the side effects it may come with.
15mg would flat line me too! I started on 3.75mg and had dreadful feelings of impending doom. After an argument with my GP I got it down to 2.5mg which was still awful and the Pharmacist then agreed a reduction to 1.25mg. I'd prefer not to be on it at all as even at that dose it does limit my speed on the hills.
Hey I don't take that much but I do take 12.5mg a day. I had an episode where my heart rate reached 170bpm and lasted nearly an hour. So bisoprolol was increased and I ended up having an ablation. Only downside for me is I struggle if that dose is lowered or temporarily stopped x
Please, did the ablation fix the tachycardia situation permanently?
Chapter and Verse on taking Bisoprolol, looks like up to 20mg per day possible
My Bisoprolol reduced for 5mg to 3.75mg to increase heart rate as Sleepng/resting range from 40bpm - 50bpm
I'm on 10 mg dose but you are in the position that you really need a high dose to control your problems and the pacemaker in your icd can be programmed to remove the issue of your heart going too low. My natural bpm is like 30-40 at rest, once my icd went in I could significantly up the beta blocker which is the drug that stops the bad type of beats. I will always need beta blockers now (sounds like you will too) the worst thing about this drug is trying to come off it. Something that's unlikely to bother you or I.....
hi
I’ve been on 15mg/day bisoprolol for 2 years now… I get my fair share of fatigue due to this, however, my heart behaves itself rather well and , having had a few ‘events’ have had no problems during this time. I trust my cardiologist when he says “everything I prescribe you has a side effect, what you have to weigh up is whether that side effect is better than the consequences of not taking what I prescribe”
It’s always your decision…. I lead quite an active life and travel a lot, spending a lot of time in Morocco (a million stairs wherever you go) and although I do feel the fatigue I’ve adjusted to it and lead a pretty good life which includes the odd glass of wine at the end of the day. Staying positive and not get worried by comments from non professionals is a good starting point.
I take 1.25 daily
Changing medication is always stressful and takes time. Trust the NHS and keep taking care of yourself with exercise and by eating healthy and no smoking or drinking!! My diet the last week has not been great but its a good time to make a new NY resolution!
Sorry to hear of your issues...admit I struggled with 2.5mg x 2 daily....with low blood pressure and related issues (dizzy spells and fainting). Now changed to 2 different tablets, although early days defo feel better. Regarding Xmas did notice that even sitting with group of family for Xmas dinners my heart would not drop below 100 8pm, only dropped when back home with me and wife.... few days later same happened, with family (again no drink) and HR not below 100.....Everyone is different, but definitely being in among groups of people can increase HR etc....Concerned when HR is raised for a while, incase moves into AF....hope you get a resolution, understanding yer Heart etc is certainly not a quick journey
