I have just joined this post via BHF and am asking if others may have had similar experiences, in 2021 was diagnosed with SVT prescribed verapamil 240 sr and ramipril 5 mg daily. In 2024 was in hospital due to stroke then prescribed Bisoprolol 2.5 mgand Apixaban 5 mg daily. Does anyone take verapamil and Bisoprolol at the same time? I ask this as I understand from dr. That these work against each other as I have felt really weak and fuzzy headed not longafter swallowing them and into the afternoon after taking them both in the morning. Also looking on line NICE web site this combination not recommended my other point is that Svt can lead to afib which was diagnosed 2024 while in hospital and I truly believe that had I been given blood thinners earlier stroke might not have happened as I also have mild aortic regurgitation that may have sent blood clot around body. Any one similar to my experiences. Many thanks

it could be an idea to have a word with the pharmacist employed at your doctor’s group of surgeries, who would have access to your records and is an expert on medicines and their inter-reactions . Failing that your dispensing pharmacist might have some ideas.
What a worrying time you are having. When I was concerned about two medications I was prescribed clashing I spoke with my Pharmacist (I always go to the same Pharmacy as the staff then "know" you) and I was informed that when medications are inputted into the system, if they should not be taken together there is a red warning. I don't know if this still occurs, but suggest you have a word with your Pharmacist, or, as you have been in hospital, telephone the Secretary for the Cardiologist/Person who oversaw your care and ask them to query this with that person. I have always done this and I have found the Secretaries to be very helpful. I phone the hospital switchboard and ask to be put through to the relevant person.
