hi there …. Fairly new to this drug as my cardiologist tries to determine if I have microvascular disease. I had a stent filled in April 2024 , a 90% blocked LAD . I have been having chest pain for four years only on outdoor walking. fully investigated for three years with no results. In 2024 tests were repeated at which time the blockage was discovered. I fully expected that the pain would be gone after the stent but sadly that did not happen. I am now taking 1.25 mg daily of Bisoprolol to see if that takes away the chest pain. I am finding that I am very exhausted at 7 in the evening and nodding off, and I have terrible sleeps. I’m waking up at least four times through the evening and also noticed more nasal and throat mucous. My blood pressure has gotten quite a bit lower than my standard and my heart rate never gets up past 99 on my walks. I see my cardiologist in November for a review, but always like to hear others stories as I know we are all different, but each can help the other in some way . Thank you … 66 year old female

Bisoprolol and increased mucous at bedtime
I was given Bisoprolol after a heart attack and stents fitted. 5mg per day. I'm a 63 year old male. It was too much, as it was making my heart beat too slowly and I was absolutely exhausted. Was taken off it for two weeks, then put back on it at the lowest dosage 1.25mg a day. Was told to take it just before I went to bed at night. It's working much better for me now. Maybe try taking it at night?
Hi these are the side effects from Bisoprolol:Body aches or pain.
chest pain.
difficult or labored breathing.
ear congestion.
headache.
loss of voice.
nasal congestion.
pain or tenderness around eyes and cheekbones.
I think like all new meds our bodies need to adjust. As you have a follow up with your cardiologist a good time to discuss this. I've been on 5mg Bisoprolol for 4years, with many other meds, so not sure what could be causing what🤔, but I'm still here.🤓❤
The trouble is that for many of us some symptoms can apply to more than one condition, and /or more than one medication. I have a large hiatus hernia and silent reflux, which causes, shortness of breath, loss of voice and coughing. I also have a couple of heart issues which also cause shortness of breath, and medication that can cause coughing. I broke my nose a few montha ago and have nasal congestion, which could be from that. I have a tendency to get constipation, and of course side effects from most medications say they either cause diarrhea or constipation. It's great fun trying to work out what is causing what!!
I was put on 1.25mg/day post-open-heart-surgery. I don't think I have any side-effects from it. I'm sometimes hoarse and I definitely have sternum pain, but I figure those have more to do with the surgery than the bisoprolol.
Hi 1a2b3,
That is exactly my case. I didn't know the reason! Recently I stop eating cheese it helps a bit. I also have acid reflux, so it was a bit of that as well that made me have more mucus during the night.
Bisoprolol did affect me to start and i stop and start on my own, without doctor knowing. I think it was the reason why I developed AFib I am stable now and take 2.5 mg x 2 a day
my chronic anxiety is much better with Magnesium now, it helps the heart as well as sleep.
i am also 66 female, all the best to you
