hi folks firstly thank you to every one for your recent support and sharing your stories. It is very much appreciated.. I am now at week 5 since having and ICD fitted and this weekend 25 May Imam off for scans. ( cup final Saturday, seems a good use of my day considering who I support);. Overall things seem to be going well and I have started going for short walks around 1.6km most days. Unfortunately I have another health challenge which requires a flexible endoscopy and I am waiting for this to happen, hopefully soon , as I am told Incan now lay of my lefty’s side and think of England 😇
May I ask one question and all comments will be valued. Sometime the ICD feels very warm to touch, my question being is this a common occurrence? Sorry to ask but as many of you know, it’s difficult to know who to ask .
thanks in advance

The sensations you feel around a new ICD can play tricks as the nerves grow back. Mine felt cold, warm, tingly and numb, several times a day, with a few painful twinges. And the itching... oh my goodness - even as someone with lifelong eczema, it was the itching that really tested me! 😆 But it was a relatively small price to pay for a life-saving device.
Those intense sensations have all calmed down now (took about 3 months). Occasionally, it still gets a bit itchy, but this is perfectly manageable. I'm 9 months in now.
The one thing to keep an eye out for in these early weeks is a hot, burning or tender sensation around the wound site, as this may indicate infection. You should be due a check-up soon anyway? Most clinics do a 6 week device check, where they give you a few gentle prods, check your healing progress and that the device is seated properly.
