yes I have a pacemaker it was fitted 18 months before I had my hip replaced. I had a full anaesthetic no issues. However my husband had the operation by spinal block and his recovery was faster than mine.

hi George. I have to have my hips replaced soon. I have an ICD implant as well. I’ve been told that I would have a spinal. Also as you know your device will be switched off but you are monitored very closely. I can’t wait to have my hips done!

Good luck and I feel so happy for you. Get your life back on track x

Hi George

The decision about the anaesthetic will be up to the anaesthetist on the day. Had a pacemaker 7 years ago and just had a full knee replacement. I had both the nerve block and general with no problems. They didn’t switch the pacemaker off in fact if they did that with me the heart would probably stop. It’s there for a reason!

Hope it all goes well
