Hi everyone,,, hope somebody knows the answer to this one,,, my wife has CHD and I have dercums disease,,, should I have to go into work, I work in a (really busy ) diy store and my wife is retired,, I was told by my manager that he didn't think I met the criterior so I had to use a weeks holiday to stay at home this week,,, we are really worried about next week now as I may not get paid if I just stay off work trying to protect my wife from catching the virus.... TIA.

I would suggest you discuss this with your GP to see if they can give you a support letter to give to your employer as you are right in saying that your exposure could put her at risk.

Take care and best wishes.

Ask your employer to do a risk assessment before you have to go back to work. It may help you. Sheena

Are you on any kind of steroid or being treated with methotrexate? I was just wondering if your immune system was compromised with any treatment for dercums disease as your employer may not understand or be aware of this. Are you in UK as my understanding is that DIY stores will or have already closed. If in the UK my understanding is that if it's not feasible to work from home you should be 2 metres apart from anyone at work which your employer has a duty if care to ensure.
