Hi, fantastic news. Different consultant came today, they've arranged Ralph's care to be taken over by cardiac department, so he can stay in chesterfield all the time. Moving tomorrow probably, to a side ward in the ward opposite nurses station. They're kept for tracheotomy patients mostly and they give them a bell instead of a buzzer so they know to go to them right away. Ent will be available Mon to Fri for the treatment they give him. Today he also had the device put up his nose and down to his throat and had his first 10 minutes treatment. Don't think it was pleasant, but he got through it, and they're hoping he can tolerate higher numbers each time, we'll see.
I told the consultant I love him for making this happen. The ward sister from the new ward came up and met us both to explain what will be happening, so that was lovely
I got home at 5.15 so been a long day
Obviously a woman in her 70's sobbing and virtually having a nervous breakdown in front of them, spurred them on to find a solution that pleases us all.
Hopefully you're a bit more settled now you know what's going on. Sounds. like a very on the ball hospital. Wishing you both (and your sons) love and hugs. Jan xxxxx
Dear Sue, how wonderful. Your tears have led to a brilliant outcome. Well done you!! Ralph will feel much more settled and I'm sure the next leg will progress well for him. He IS being VERY brave and I do really hope this treatment is tolerable and starts to make a positive difference to him. Watch this space and please take some time to rest, yourself, won't you? Emotional distress is harder work than running a marathon, I've heard. Big hugs 🫂 🤗 XX
This is such good news. So happy that you don’t have that stress to deal with anymore ❤️
It’s hard keeping strong yourself and thinking of other peoples thoughts. My mum couldn’t think straight and as I have got older I understand her anxieties more.
Ah, that's great news all round. I'm so pleased that Ralph's staying in Chesterfield. It sounds as though he's definitely in the right place now & receiving the best care. You must be absolutely exhausted! I do hope that you manage to relax at home & have support from family & friends 🧡 Thank you for keeping us updated xx
Wonderful news. What a relief for you both. Hope this gives Ralph a boost and you can both focus now on Ralph recovering. Hope you've had a well deserved rest. Best wishes ☺
That's brilliant news . You don't have to worry about Ralph being moved . Now you must take care of yourself. And hope you have some me time as it's very important that you do for your physical and mental health. I know only to well what concentrating on loved ones cost me healthwise but I didn't realise how much for years until my mom was the last to die on 2017. Nick my husband died in 2004 aged 47 I was 45. But with both parents and mother in law who where dependent on me even though born disabled . They needed me . Having jaundice was my wake up call my life had to change. I wouldn't recommend having that . Does terrible things to your body and has left my with sensitive skin and hearing my heart beat in my left ear.
But I would do it all over again as I am still me.
If Ralph sees you looking ill it will make him feel guilty and worrying about you will set him back. So plenty of TLC for yourself .. 🤗
Such good news and good to hear they listened to you. This is a very traumatic time for you both but thankfully the clouds seem to be lifting and the sun is shining through 🌞 Ralph is so brave and is making such good progress with his recovery, he is strong and determined I pray he will be home with you very soon. Take care of yourself sending ❤️🤗🙏 to you both 😊X
I am so very pleased they have found a way for Ralph to stay in that hospital and it shows that they are obviously aware of the extra strains it would put on you both if he were moved elsewhere. This is excellent news and a positive way forward. Let's hope that now this has been sorted that they can crack on with the treatment and that what they are intending on doing will see some positive outcomes for Ralph. I can only imagine how upsetting all of this uncertainty about the move has been but am sure the news you've had now has been so much more reassuring. Xx
Staying there would be a great relief..and definitely the best for him...great news...so from now only upwards and forward..you have both wormed so hard and now is time for complete healing..
I'm not surprised you broke down there is inly so much a person can take and as you said it spurred them on. So pleased for both of you, you both deserve this.
Emotion can be exhausting but also very therapeutic. So glad to read your latest post, looks like they've really taken you both under their wing nowHope you got a decent nights sleep.
You’ve both been through a traumatic time, thank goodness things are improving daily. As people say, you probably don’t realise how much it affects you both, and letting it all out by crying is a good thing, never worry about crying and letting emotions out! So very pleased to hear the latest news, 🥰🥰
I’m so glad you have a solution that works for you. It’s a shame you had to have a melt down to achieve it though. You’re right emotion is exhausting. Hopefully now you know Ralph will be well cared for you can relax a little bit. I will be thinking of you both.
Sometimes it takes tears and emotion to remind them they are dealing with a much loved person and not just a number to be fobbed off at their convenience.
Morning Sue I am so pleased to hear that Ralph is able to stay where he is, it will make such a difference to you both that he will be there at the weekend as well, it would have been so stressful moving every Friday/Monday. Take care and looking forward to your next update xx
Sorry you had to go through all the drama, but it seems like you fought the good fight and were victorious. Now take some me time and recharge. All the best - Paul
