He's doing okay, he's now got a patch behind his ear to dry up secretions in his throat, then in a few days.... fingers crossed.... should/may be able to remove tracheotomy. That's the plan Dr told us this morning. He's still tired of course, but he just listens to everything they say without looking at them, then puts his thumb up. I think he isn't really believing them and just going along with what they say

Update
Hello
The patch sounds a good idea and hopefully it will go some way to helping him to gain some confidence back
He could be at that stage he is not sure about what they say with all the ups and downs it would make us feel this way and so I am really hoping in a few days they can take that tracheotomy out and he does well and then he will gain even more confidence
This has certainly been a big ordeal for you both they say things come to try us and goodness you both have certainly been tried through all this but I am waiting for that post where you bring him home and however long it takes I still have faith in that you will do x
I'm sorry this is still not the good news we are all hoping for but I'm sure he like yourself doesn't want to get his hopes up .Hopefully his mood will improve when they are able to remove the tracheotomy as one of the steps to get him back home with you It must of been horrible for all of you and you have been incredibly strong to get to this stage but hopefully you will turn the corner over the next couple of days. My best wishes are with you xx
Fingers crossed for him, he has had enough now and needs to get home to get his strength back. I do hope you are eating properly and catching a rest when you can I know how draining it can be x
Let's hope he has faith in the patches - it might just bet the thing he needs to enable hime to get rid of his trachy, then you will want him to shut up was he will have so much to say Sounds like he is on the right road now ( 🤞🤞). how is he doing with his physio, standing etc?
He was doing really well, but since this last infection he hasn't done any standing or pulling himself up, which is disappointing
They will be trying to conserve his strength, but he will be moving more anyway as he will be using his arms to scratch itches etc His standing etc will come back. xx
So many of us are reading your accounts with baited breath. It is compulsive reading much as a hospital TV series is compulsive viewing. I so much hope you find support from all the Health Unlocked guys and all the lovely comments you have. Both you and your guy have so much courage. You both deserve medals. I know he is doing his best for you because he loves you so much ❤️
It's good they have a plan and hopefully all will end up going smoothly with it. Waiting is so hard though. Thinking of you, take care 💖
It's often 2 steps forward then one back..tracheostomys are dirty things renowned for causing infections..hope the patches help and he gets it out soon! Tell him he'll need to start a collection of fancy cravats to hide the scar! 😉😂
Take care of yourself ! Not long now🤞🤞🤞
Hi not much I can add to your previous replies but to say hopefully won’t be too long until he gets out of hospital and home . Thinking of you both and wishing hubby a speedy recovery x
I can appreciate it must be incredibly hard for you both but please do remember the medics are doing all this as they strongly believe he can recover. When my husband was extremely poorly after a ohca I was told this repeatedly. Though there were tough days they were right. Thank God. Again, please please take care of yourself. Thinking of you both.
I’ve nothing to add to any of the the lovely comments you’ve already had, but hope things turn around for you both very soon x
Prayers and hugs for you both. Hope things stay positiveYou must be so exhausted. Try and keep well and you have nourishing food and rest when you can. God bless x x x
Your poor husband has been through such alot and has still come through, this is just a little bend in the road and I do believe he will turn this around and get back on track, stay strong you are both doing so well😊
Thinking of you both.
Another move in the right direction Castleview. Now he is recovering again from a nasty setback, don't let him feel sorry for himself, tell him he needs to communicate and make some effort to get moving (in the nicest possible way of course) 😄
Pleased that the medics have a plan and will pray that the trach will be out on a few days He must be so fed up I am not surprised he doesn't believe them He will get there Take care of yourself too and try to rest as much as possible when at home
Hoping the patch will work it's magic and he can soon get the trachy tube out. He'll feel more positive then and get back to standing/getting dressed etc. You are doing a magnificent job supporting him through all this and sending you both healing thoughts and prayers xx
I just think he probably needs time to start feeling better in himself and to see he is getting better slowly. Brian
He must be so cheesed off with the slow progress and feeling low. You’re doing so well to keep going in there with a smile on your face, stay positive!
Thinking of you both 🩷🩷
Well there is no place like home and it sounds as if he may be getting a bit down. As others have said, once he gets rid of the tracheotomy he will feel as if he is getting somewhere. It is small steps, but better than two steps forward and one back. It has been a long time for him and you as well. I hope things go ahead now and he will soon be smiling again. Thinking of you.
Hi Castleview. I've only just received your latest post.
Once the tracheostomy has been removed, he'll start to recover much quicker. Gosh, you've all been through so much in the past few weeks.
It won't be long before he's back home. Please keep us updated and please make sure you look after yourself. This must be taking so much out of you.
Lots of love and hugs to you both. Jan xxxx
Sending love and hugs to you both. May God continue to watch over you both. X
