Microvascular Angina

I am 66 have been healthy mostly apart from two spine fractures after accidents, I started 6 months ago with chest pains like someone sitting on my chest, pain down arm and up to neck, I thought was just stressed but carried in, then got worse went to go who arranged appointment with cardiac people ended up having angiography at Papworth, all came back clear, I was gutted and made to feel I was imagining all symtoms. Was very relieved that had no blockage etct however yesterday passed out in kitchen, off to hospital, turns out have microvascular angina which doesn't show up on any tests, so am now on all sorts of heavy duty medication and now being looked after. So if you are having chest pains don't be fobbed off with a clear diagnosis you know your own body, if not right keep pestering. Hope this helps someone.

Hi dorisor glad you got your diagnosis. I had a HA last February and had 2 stents put in ever since Iv had dizzy and passing out spells. Like you all tests come bk clear. Iv had a loop recorder in now for 3 months and hadn’t picked up anything yet. Can you tell me how you got your diagnosis as regards to tests etc❤️shiona

Hi I was so fed up with still having the pain after being told all clear, so I researched on internet and I know you shouldn't do that but it can be helpful, so when I collapsed at home and was taken into hospital I said to cardiac doctor is this microvascular angina a possibility, he said yes it's almost a given if you have clear angiogram and are still in pain its usual to look for MVD as they call it. The specialist know about this but keep it to themselves have no idea why, the doctor was surprised I knew about it. There are test they can do though to determine exactly. Hope this helps.

Thanks Cathy. I’ll keep that in mind and do some research. I’m waiting on stress test and echo. If they’re ok I’ll certainly question it. It’s so frustrating knowing there’s something wrong and medics just go round in circles❤️

Your welcome I have been there, while no-one wants to be poorly,it's horrible when you get the all clear on tests and you know there is something wrong, the doctor yesterday who told me I have MVD said it's your body and you know if it's not right. That's is so true. I wish you lots of luck and hope you get a good outcome.
