Travelling to Canaries for a short break, as ever need to get med cover for ongoing conditions, just the usual, Stroke, Bypass surgery and now aa Pacemaker (: Would welcome any recommendations for insurance companies, its a bit of minefield and takes ages to complete even with Gocompare type searches.
Thanks in advance
Chris

Apply via the NHS website for an EHIC card. This allows emergency care in the public health system in Spain and other European countries for free or at a discount. nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/health...
It does not replace travel insurance but does cover medical emergencies in a system similar to the NHS.
Another one that specialises in pre existing conditions is Allclear. I always compare these two and alternate between them depending on what they quote.
Hi, I am using Total Travel Protection who have a very realistic set of terms and conditions and are good value. In the past I have used Staysure but their terms and conditions are much more onerous, and they are expensive.
Read the terms and conditions thoroughly when you book! I used Avanti for yearly insurance when I was healthy, I then had a heart attack a month later and they said I was only covered from the beginning of my holiday! If I had chosen just the two week holiday cover I would have been insured from the day I took out the insurance! They then cancelled the whole years insurance with no refund. I was too ill to fight it at the time.
depending on your age, have you considered changing your bank account to a bank that offers global health insurance? There are some deals even with pre-existing health conditions, but there's an age limit. Co-Op is 79 age limit and at £15 per month which is a lot cheaper than most insurance companies.
