Hi I have today been diagnosed with tachyarrythmia and prescribed Bisoprolol Fumerate. I have to go back to hospital in 6 weeks for a cardio MRI as the echo scan they did could not be properly assessed due to poor endocardial wall definition. All EEG's were fine and the 24 hour monitor was fine but I am due to go on holiday in a month for 4 weeks (Spain). My consultant is fine for me to go and I do not have any other conditions or medication, but am now worried about being able to get travel insurance and whether or not it is going to be prohibitively expensive. Can anyone recommend a reasonable company please and also any idea how much more expensive it will be?

However you may have a problem if your condition is still under investigation, insurance companies like to work with definitive diagnoses and tend to shy away from offering cover where there is ongoing medical tests etc.
As regards costs, pre heath attack my cover for 12 months worldwide (exc USA) was £80, post heart attack it is £168
I work for a cardiologist. If that is the diagnosis then that's what you devlare as a pre-existing condition. It should not affect your insurance cost too much. I insured the family through fit2travel.co.uk for a single week long trip for £57. Both myself and my husband have pre-existing conditions
The insurers will ask whether you have any investigations pending and the likelihood of getting insurance I'm afraid is low. I have diagnosed SVT and then declared prior to travel that I was awaiting investigation for a gut problem...they threatened to cancel the whole policy but then agreed to retain it with many exclusions. This was a BHF recommended insurer. At the moment, I am pending routine investigation results and life insurers nor private medical insurers will touch me...it is an absolute nightmare. In the past, my cardiac nurse has offered to write to insurers but they are not interested in that either.
We have just had to cancel a holiday insured with staysure ( who are very good) and the only insurers we have found who would insure us annually multi trip. Cancellation was because OH waiting for echo and ?cardiology re referral as has abnormal blood test for ?? heart failure or connected to valve disease or AF. Would not cover ANY of his pre existing conditions in those circumstances.
We have usex All Clear in the past and flexicover. Make sure you declare your exact circumstances to avoid invalidating insurance. Should be ok if you have a diagnosis. Good luck
I'm three months after a triple bypass and am going to Greece soon.
I got insurance through the Post Office for £26 for the three weeks I am away so you should be Ok
All Clear
I have just insured for a 5 week trip to Spain with good to go insurance £176. I had a HA i Jan one stent have heart failure they were happy to cover me despite still awaiting appointments for a new echo and ct angiogram. Just make sure to declare everything.
another poster has mentioned GOOD TO GO ,WE have used them for the last five years and they are not picky ,and they don't load your premium for silly things we both have health issues, very cheep ,recommend them at least to look at, there are others on travel extras, and Martin Lewis money market
good luck
