I have had AF once 6 yrs ago , fortunately I only had medication for 3 months , I haven’t had a face to face apt for 5 yrs or a telephone apt for 3 yrs and wonder if I still need to declare a problem

To take out travel insurance you are asked a number of questions, very often in a yes/no format, which will vary according to the number of medical conditions you have. If you answer each question honestly then you have done your best to obtain cover. And as far as your AF condition you won't find out whether you need to declare it, or how relevant it is, until you fill out a questionnaire. I suggest you go find a site for travel insurance for pre-existing conditions and go through the process of seeking quotes and it may answer the question in your post.

I would personally - the time frame will be in your favour and you may need a specialist insurer.

If anything heart related happened on holiday and you didn’t declare it, you may not be covered. They seem to class every event as a pre existing condition.

Worth discussing with an insurer though

I would advise trying to talk to an insurer for a quote rather than go online. They can advise you over the phone if you need to declare a past condition.

When you talk to them, they only want yes or no answers. They take nothing into consideration it’s exactly the same as filling out the form online.

Usually they ask about events in the last 2 years. I would have thought something that happened 6 years ago would be ok from an insurance point of view, in particular as you have had no follow ups in 5 years and are not on any medication. Good luck!

I don't leave anything off; even my appendix op when I was 7!

Thats a bit silly.

Maybe but I won't give them any excuse to query a claim if I have one.

Every insurance quote I have done online tells you that you must declare if you ever suffered any heart or circulatory condition.
