High Bp again

Hi everyone, I’m on Zemtard and candesartan and everything had been quite stable until recently. It was suddenly flagged up that my bp was too high after I’d been to a doctors appointment. I’m now waiting input from the doctors after doing a few days of bp readings at home.

Does anyone know why the tablets have just stopped working?

I have atheroma also and have found the past 2 months I have excessive fatigue.

Many thanks

If it's any help, I have been on Irbesartan, in the same group as Candesartan, for over 20 years. In that time I have noticed my blood pressure can vary by some margin when I measure it myself from time to time, or when measured by a health professional. And readings can vary within any one session, and tend to be higher when out and about. All that said in that time my blood pressure is generally normally now within a range that I consider to be acceptable, and certainly generally lower than before I started taking the medication. So perhaps your visit to the GP when your BP was higher than expected was influenced by 'white coat syndrome' which I am sure you have heard of.

Thank you for your reply. Been doing 2x daily readings for the past few days as per doctors instructions. My bp is actually far higher than the last reading at the doctors (following the same pattern of it being really high in the mornings then dropping in the evenings hence why I take the candesartan at night as per doctors instructions again) so I don’t think it’s white coat syndrome. I haven’t been doing regular checks on bp but have had chronic headaches in the morning again for the past 6 months.

This could be the time for you to review all the things you need to do for yourself to lower your blood pressure, in terms of diet and lifestyle. The website of the specialist charity Blood Pressure UK is worth a read.
