I would recommend waiting only because you’d be better prepared if you had results to show the private cardiologist. If you do go to the cardiologist without the results, it is likely you will have to pay to have the holter repeated and it can be expensive as I’ve had a holter done privately for 2 weeks before. If you’re using health insurance, then the cost will be less of course. Is there any reason you are pursuing private care if you’re already under the NHS?
That makes sense. I appreciate 22 weeks can be a long wait. You would be seen quicker privately if that’s the case as I remember it was months before I would even get the holter on the NHS, and perhaps would’ve waited another couple of months for the results as well.
Probably no harm in paying for a first consultation to see what the private cardiologist suggests and weigh out your options from there onwards.
Definitely wait, I had one on August and still haven't heard back. No news is always good news I know I would like to know my results aswell the only thing keeping me going is knowing I have my appointment this month on 21st which I will hopefully get results then! 😐
easy to say but difficult to do - wait for your results which may be sometimes be available before you see a cardiologist. Worth chasing up with the team reasonable when might results be available. You should be able to have a copy possibly via PALS (can take 30 days). You may not fully understand results (don’t google unless reputable/ bone fide source of info) but you’ll have something to show a private consultant if the wait for a nhs cardiologist is too long to wait - but ensure you’re still in the NHS system while you see private as you’ll no doubt want to revert back to NHS at some point.
I would wait. It's far better if you have as much information as possible before seeing anyone. No news is good news and it is a bit early yet to expect the results but it does vary from area to area. I got mine after about 3 weeks but I Know people who waited longer. Maybe you could phone to ask about them.
