Horrid painful cough , no voice and chest pains

I started with a sore throat Wednesday night , I now can’t speak , just about a whisper . Overnight I didn’t feel too good , woke around 4am as I was coughing which caused a bad central chest pain that also radiated left and right . The left sided pain was very sharp and I used my inhaler to see if that helped which tbh didn’t do much . I’ve noticed since having a pacemaker the slightest cough and cold really affects me , last time this happened I developed an rti. Feel ok this morning just very hot and sticky with the weather and the fact I can’t talk , which my family find a bit amusing ( not in a nasty way ) hoping this doesn’t get any worse .

So sorry to hear you are struggling and would suggest you ring 111 or an emergency GP as you had such a sharp left sided pain, even if you do feel ok at the moment. You have a young family to look after but it is paramount that you look after yourself and get this investigated as soon as possible. Best wishes.

I’m sorry you’re feeling poorly.

Have you tried any at home remedies yet, such as honey and lemon? I find that a hot shower and bath can help clear my sinuses and make my chest feel a little less congested.

Perhaps also do a test for the virus that can’t be named if you haven’t already to be on the safe side.

My sister had an awful cough for over 2 weeks. No rhyme or reason for it, accompanied with a fever. I wonder if it’s the weather sending our allergies into overdrive this time of the year.

There is a nasty cough going about and that is what I have and coughing up nasties to and you do get a sore throat with it

I started with a sore throat a week last Tuesday which started as a tickly cough, then now turned into a really bad hacking cough and bringing up phlegm, with my nose running all the time. Hoping it will clear soon as it's 12 days now. There's definitely something doing the rounds this summer, luckily it's not the virus that cannot be named.

Well my Son had it and about 2 weeks and I thought goodness I will catch it and looks like I have and yes it starts with a sore throat like a tickle and then the cough and I am bringing green and yellow up and I have spoken to a few now that have had this

I am sorry you have caught it to hopefully a few more days if you have had it 12 days now it should soon be gone

No it is not the C I had us all testing this does seem to be a summer bug bit not a nice one

Sounds like you have a nasty virus and with other health problems they can cause havoc. Paracetamol and rest for a couple of days so that your body can fight it. Of course, if any more chest pains etc. then get advice, but it will just run it’s course. Try to relax if you can. Hope you feel better soon.

This virus seems to be the new thing this Summer so many seem to have it and maybe coughing so much has not helped my chest and I have been noticing today as I have been coughing all day that when I do I am pulling my back and chest muscles which then leaves you hurting

I am failing at trying to relax I am not even sure I know how to be honest but these lovely supportive replies are really helping and thank you I appreciate it so much x

l am so sorry B K that you are having all this anxiety and upset. The trauma of it all will still be going round in your head.

Your nervous system will be very tired which is making you more anxious. I hope you get a good nights sleep. Sleep is a great healer for nerves which can make you feel very ill. I send love and prayers to you and hope you feel better tomorrow. 🥰

That saying living of your nerves well that is me and my sleep is terrible I do not go to bed till the early hours and I am up again before you know it which I know does not help they way I feel

Aw hun you poor thing! Sounds like you might have a chest infection. I find that when I get a cold it always affects my voice and this heat makes my voice go so weak and I sound so strange and squeaky. I had this cough and was affecting my chest few years back turns out I had LRTI and it majorly affected me messed with my heart and I ended up in hospital for 2 weeks 💔. I hope you feel better soon but if you don't feel good by Monday go doctors please 🙏❤️xx

My Doctor will be back Tuesday and she phones me so in the meantime I shall take these few antibiotics I found left over and then speak with her then

Yeah I have but I'm still here going strong 💪🏻😅😊❤️. Yeah I will try not to get the virus x I really hope your antibiotics clear up the rest of that infection I had bout 3 lots of antibiotics I had cipfloxan I think it's called probably spelt it wrong lol and 2 lots of coamoxiclav which helped eventually. Yes it leaves you feeling that way and my voice keeps going as well as this horrible stuff I cough up it is not nice at all and the heat is not helping

You will have to think if a plan get one of yours to do a recording that you need a appointment and you have lost your voice and plat that when they answer

Thankfully I have my voice back though still a bit croaky , I was ok until I went to bed and lay down, that caused a bout of coughing , a sudden barking type cough that really hurt my chest , for quite a few minutes after my chest was tight with a kind of pressure on the left , also felt wheezy for a few minutes . I seem to get this every time I have a cold . Looks like having to do battle with the phone lines at the gp surgery which on a Monday morning at 8am isn’t an easy feat . Wish me luck !
