Hi everyone, I had a single heart bypass 6 months ago, recovery seemed fine discomfort was very minimal even started gym in 5th month, however when I started back to work within 2nd week stated to get upper left hand side discomfort and left arm pain, obviously went straight to A&E.They did all the relevant examinations and stated it was probably muscular pain ? It comes and goes every day mainly upper left towards armpit is this part of the healing process or nerve damage? Thanks.

Pain upper left hand side 6 months after single bypass
Hi Inspireblue
I’m sorry to hear about your recent symptoms after your bypass.
I can’t comment on the bypass as I have no experience of this however, have you tried to run this past your doctor or cardiologist? It sounds like you may need some more investigations into the pain.
I’m not sure what your exercise regime is like at the moment, but it might be worth doing less strenuous workouts or use of equipment at the gym in order to avoid aggravating or increasing the stress on that part of your body.
All the best.

Hi,How did you get on, exactly the same for me.I could have written the post myself.
Hi, Still haven't got to the bottom of it, I did stop the gym that did stop it for a while but the dull ache does comes and go. Weirdly I am going to the hospital today !! For a check up its been almost 12 months, thankfully no real dramas to report on. I will bring up the ache as it still does comes and go ..Will give you an update on the outcome.
Hi , thanks for the reply and I wish you all the best for today. I was seen by the cardio rehab yesterday who have suggested it is muscular.
Take it easy 👍
The pharmacist who is a friend of mine also suggested it was either muscular of nerve damage, but I had this pain months leading up to my heart attack but then it was more constant.
Did they do blood tests when you went to A&E? Do you get any other symptoms that were the same before your heart attack? There is probably now a reason for nerve or muscular damage now that you have had surgery.
Hi, Yes they did blood test nothing out of the ordinary. Having had the check up today I did mention all that had happened over the last 10 months after surgery, he started as long as the pain wasn't the same breathing was normal and heart palpitations did not occur ( thankfully none of the above ) , it was probably muscular or nerve damage.
I'm not going to the gym but instead doing long walks to keep me active.
