Worrying pain for the last 5 days in my left upper arm

I have constant pain in my left upper arm. I know it's not a soft tissue injury. The pain is making sleep very difficult and turning in bed seems to make the pain worse, I'm constantly aware of it. I know that I am dehydrated (my own fault) and have increased my fluids from last night. To my knowledge dehydration can cause havoc with the heart. I do not have chest pain or nausea but have been getting very breathless for a long while and often feel lightheaded. Is there anyone on this forum who has experienced the same pain and if so, was it cardiac related. Thank you.

You should be seeing your GP for tests, sooner rather than later ! May be nothing but equally could be something that needs attention.

Are you going to get it checked out ? my husband had an achey shoulder for a week which turned out to be a silent heart attack and he went on to have 3rd degree heart block so even minor aches can be very serious.

yes dear dont wait for someone to respond. call 111 and dont wait as some people can have silent heart attacks with no symptoms. At least you can speak to a professional with experience of all the symptoms of heart attack symptoms and breathless ness can be a symptom especailly. my blood pressure went up to 216/100 and i had not worries i was on that phone immediatley and they sent an ambulance where they have a machine that can test your heart with them. im on blood pressure mediction and they put the dose up by another 5mg of amlodapine. pleases dont wait any longer. love grace xoxo

Heart problems do not necessarily cause chest pains - pain could occur in chest, arm(s), neck or back. Ring 111 now if you have not done so already .

Why do people ask members on here about symptoms of heart problems. I don't understand it! go and see your GP, if you get no response then ask to see a cardiologists, if you have chest pain and you are concerned 999 is the answer.

I joined this public forum under the umbrella of The British Heart Foundation, the name says it all. My understanding of a public forum is a place where good folk can share their experiences and concerns with other good folk and not be lambasted for asking a question. Contrary to popular belief not everyone goes to their Dr. at the drop of a hat. There are some of us who are very mindful of how stretched the NHS is. Dehydration can negatively affect the heart and cardiovascular system and change your electrolytes, potassium and sodium levels. I sincerely hope that if I can ever answer someone else's concern that I would be kind and helpful in my response. Your response to my concern was not only unhelpful but bordering on sarcastic. I wish you a good day.

They are looking for reassurance

Go to hospital! Arm pain was the only symptom I had before I nearly died. You need to get checked out immediately.

I don't go to the doctors at the drop of a hat, hence why my heart condition got missed. However, in hindsight I wish I had listened to my head that something was wrong I should have gone to my GP, but I didn't get that chance as I had a heart attack and blue twoed to ICU followed by an emergency bypass. So you yourself said you had worrying pain on a heart forum, so you must suspect that it could be your heart. I was merely stating if it is worrying you, don't hesistate to seek medicl help. It could cost you your life, so without sarcastic reply I was actually advising you to urgently see a doctor.

On 1st October this year I woke up with an uncomfortable ache in my left arm and under my breast I was also hot and didn’t feel right. I rang ambulance and they arrived in 10 mins. I was taken to hospital they called ahead and a cardio team were waiting for me. I had a stent for a blocked artery spent a week in hospital. Then went back for 3 more at the end of Oct. I didn’t think I had had a heart attack but I had and I was told I was very lucky that I called an ambulance when I did. Now recovering and waiting to start cardio classes. I am diabetic and was put on insulin as well as lots of tablets.
